District Highlights: The district lives out its mission To empower students of all ages to be life-long learners who demonstrate creative thinking, critical analysis and problem solving skills in an ever changing and challenging world. 750 employees. 72% of Teachers w/ Masters Degrees. HS offers 11 courses taken for college credit and 13 AP courses. AVID Program implemented in the fall of 2016 at MS and fall of 2017 at HS. Alternative learning options for students at all levels. K-4 choice STEM school and K-4 Spanish Immersion program. Strong athletics and fine arts programs involving many students. 1:1 student device implementation plan (TL21): Chromebook grades 3 -12 and IPad grades K 2. Supported by the recent passage of a capital project levy raising for technology approximately $1 million dollar a year for the ten years. Strong achievement for students in all grades and attracts open enrollment students from across the area. Member of SE Service Coop. Recently updated math and science wing at the high school. Strong Community Education program serving up to 8000 residents annually. Communities Served: Winona Area Public Schools is located in beautiful, historic southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi River bordering the State of Wisconsin and is comprised of several district communities. The largest community, Winona, has a population of about 30,000 with three institutions of higher learning, a diverse industrial and service economy, and a strong heritage. The community highly values education and has a growing diverse population. There is a hospital and clinic located in Winona; and a range of places of worship can be found in the area. Student Population: Approximately 3000 District Budget: $49.6 million ($42 million general fund budget) with $5.1 million unreserved fund balance. The district voters recently renewed an operating referendum at a level of $1,528 per pupil for a period of ten years.

Permanent Special Education Paraprofessional Substitute

Description: Permanent Special Education Paraprofessional Substitute. 35 hours/week on student contact days. Grade 4 rate of pay. Job Summary: Permanent Substitute Paraprofessionals are utilized to cover absences reported by school-based full-time paraprofessionals. The role of the substitute paraprofessional is to assist teachers with class work and/or assist with the daily care of students with emotional, cognitive, physical handicaps, autism and other special needs. Their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:*Act as substitute in all district special education programs when permanent staff are absent, which includes; providing personal care services to students, utilizing appropriate equipment and devices. *Utilizing appropriate behavior techniques, providing documentation as needed. *Assist in special services programs to provide support and resources to teachers. *Provide immediate support to new students with special needs who are entering the district until an evaluation has been done to determine level of assistance needed. *Attends special education trainings. *Prioritize assignments on a daily basis based on needs of students and programs in consultation with the Director of Special Services. *Provide monthly documentation to the Director on time and requests for services so planning can occur. *Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

Elementary Principal

Nett Lake Elementary is looking for a full-time Principal to guide its school into the future. The K-6 school is located on the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indian reservation west of Orr, MN in a beautiful architecturally designed building. We have an enrollment of under 100 students and an average class size of only eight students, assisted by a contingent of five paraprofessionals. English teachers at MPA are responsible for providing a classroom instructional program that supports the individual needs of all students in accordance with the school’s mission and values.
