AVID Tutor

Description: AVID tutors travel between Shakopee West Junior High School, Shakopee East Junior High School and the Shakopee High School. AVID tutors assist students during the small group tutorial sessions held in the AVID elective classes during the school day. For this particular AVID tutor position, the work hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm. Job summary: – Attend required AVID tutor training (must complete at least 16 hours of AVID training) – Work with small groups of 8th, 9th and 10th grade students during the AVID class period in the classroom – Become familiar with materials used by AVID students – Conduct tutorial sessions with small groups of students using AVID methods – Communicate regularly with AVID teachers and director regarding students’ progress and areas of concern – Follow all AVID and school rules and policies and set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students to follow – Must be able to travel between Shakopee East, Shakopee West and Shakopee High School

Technology/Technology Assistant

Grade 5. $16.53/hr Job Summary: Provide support in the area of technology for staff and students so that the overall district educational objectives may be achieved. *Completes tasks and projects on site following protocols as assigned by the Supervisor of Support and Technology Support Manager. *Supports building-level technology through the district Help Desk service and responds to staff requests. *Maintains systems including the installation of equipment and hardware/software upgrades following established protocols. *Supports existing technology including computer workstations, mobile devices, video/audio equipment and other peripheral devices. *Communicates and collaborates with the Technology Support Team to problem solve hardware, software, and network issues. *Remains current in software and hardware trends. *Answer the Help Desk phone number and provides assistance when able or devotes resources to remedy the staff’s technology issues. *Provide training for students and staff on software applications used by students. *Assists with training on software applications utilized by staff in real time and through virtual or web-based training. *Assists in the development and upkeep of instructional manuals on hardware and software use. *Assists as needed in installing, building, upgrading, and maintaining assistive technology hardware and software for students and staff. e.g. Text to Speech *Preview individualized technology equipment, devices, computers, computer software, and other materials. *Aids in the implementation of new technology and information systems.

Superintendent

The West Central Area Schools, serving the communities of Barrett, Elbow Lake, Hoffman, Kensington and Wendell, is seeking candidates for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The successful candidate will begin work on or around July 1, 2016 and will receive a competitive salary and benefit package commensurate with experience and qualifications. School District Information: The West Central Area Schools has an enrollment of approximately 720 k-12 students. In addition, children, families, and other district residents are served through early childhood and community education programs. Educational and support programs are delivered in two PreK-4 Elementary Schools and one 5-12 Secondary School. The superintendent is supported by two principals, a Director of Buildings and Grounds, a Business Manager, a Community Education Director, and a Technology Director. The district employs 110 licensed and non-licensed staff members. The enrollment pattern for the district has been steady for the last several years and is expected to remain relatively constant. The district offers a comprehensive 1:1 Technology Initiative. The school district’s operating budget is approximately $8 million. The district has an outstanding financial footing.
