Reports to:  Director of Student Services

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Possess and utilize knowledge of state and federal laws and local school district policy related to school social work practice in order to enhance service delivery and to ensure informed practice.
  2. Practice with an ethical decision making model including, but not limited to: maintaining healthy boundaries, maintaining confidentiality, and implementing evidence based practices and interventions with students, families, schools, and community.
  3. Advocate for social and economic justice, at multiple levels, in order to reduce barriers and promote learning.
  4. Advocate for culturally responsive and trauma-sensitive practices throughout multi-tiered systems of support in order to reduce the impact of risk factors.
  5. Advocate for and with students and their families in the home, school and community, challenging systemic barriers to improve student learning and outcomes.
  6. Lead and support the continued development of the District-wide PBIS initiatives.
  7. Utilize effective interventions by applying culturally responsive, trauma-sensitive, and evidence-based interventions that support student success within a multi-tiered system of support.
  8. Engage students in using a variety of evidence-based strategies and techniques that emphasize student strengths and result in collaborative approaches to problem solving that build the skills of students to make healthy decisions.
  9. Serve as a member of the student support team, leading initiatives in truancy and AODA prevention.
  10. Ability to direct and or plan initiatives and activities such as PBIS, Trauma Sensitive Schools and Culturally Responsive Practices.
  11. Possess and utilize knowledge of resources and referral procedures within the school system and community agencies to match the needs of students and their families with services that lead to optimal learning environments for better student outcomes.
  12. Collaborate and consult with colleagues to improve student learning and outcomes.
  13. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively information with a variety of audiences.

Summary
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful overall executive leadership of Schools Advocating for Fair Funding (SAFF) in accordance with its core mission and vision, to include strategic planning, board relations, advocacy, financial operations, leadership of SAFF team, contracts and compliance, communications and public relations, educational opportunities, member relations, retaining and increasing membership, and other responsibilities related to effectively leading SAFF.

Experience Required
The successful leader must have proved leadership experience and a knowledge of school board and/or superintendent roles.
● Master’s Degree or higher preferred
● Foundational skills in board governance, finance and operations, strategic direction, communications, relationship building, membership services, personnel leadership, advocacy
● Demonstrated experience as a school board member or school administrator

Qualifications Desired
● Exceptional collaboration, networking, and relationship-building skills to positively influence a diverse constituency of members, legislators, and educational allies
● Analytical thinking to synthesize complex information and communicate in writing and presentations

Major Responsibilities
● Member Advocacy. Actively advocate for member school districts around education issues, provide legislative and public testimony, and act as liaison for members’ unique legislative priorities
● Innovative Services and Programs. Ensure SAFF stability and growth through membership recruitment and retention and timely, relevant services and programs that meet member needs
● Visionary Partnership with the Executive Board. Assist the Board in establishing policies, objectives, goals and priorities that lead to mission excellence
● Strategic Leadership to SAFF Team. Actively engage high-performing team to solve challenges, build inclusive culture, and initiate change
● Operational Effectiveness. Monitor administrative and business controls to ensure legal compliance and minimize financial and other risks to organization
● Key Communications. Craft and align strategic messaging to articulate organization vision, engage and inform members, and build a commitment to public rural education

Compensation
• This position is flexible/part-time (2-3 days a week). Salary range of $35,000-45,000.

Elementary Principal

Job Goal:  The elementary school principal is the learning leader of the school, and is ultimately responsible for establishing, maintaining, and supporting a positive student growth culture.  The elementary principal collaborates with building and District staff to implement curriculum and instructional programs that support every student, every day.  Leading Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) is at the core of our work, contributing to the success of all learners.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises all school operations and instructional programming for grades K-5 (575+ students).
  2. Develops, executes, and monitors the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  3. Leads change and has the ability to influence, motivate and model systems thinking for all staff.
  4. Establishes, maintains, and supports a positive student growth culture fostering a shared commitment of high expectations for student growth, achievement, and high standards of teaching and learning.
  5. Provides leadership in the areas of Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s), Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), and other research-based frameworks and strategies.
  6. Collaborates with teachers to examine student and school data to measure student learning and growth, identify achievement & opportunity gaps, and develop strategic interventions that improve learning and close identified gaps.
  7. Facilitates reflective practice, inquiry, and action research to identify and monitor the impact of interventions and determine high-yield instructional strategies that improve student growth.
  8. Observes instruction and provides ongoing feedback and coaching to teachers and other staff supporting professional growth leading to high student growth.
  9. Monitors the daily school schedule and ensures instructional time is maximized.
  10. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school sponsored activities.
  11. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, assigning and evaluating of the school’s staff; both certified and support staff.
  12. Participates in administrative team meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriate for successful administration of the school.
  13. Prepares and submits the school’s budget and monitors expenditures to ensure that the budget is balanced.
  14. Keeps the superintendent informed of the school’s activities and events.
  15. The principal is responsible for building strong partnerships with families and community, creating a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.
  16. Abides by all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and statutes for the position.
  17. Performs other administrative duties as required by the superintendent.
