Responsibilities

  • Case management and maintaining appropriate due process files.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student due process records as required by state and federal laws and district standards.
  • Confer with parents, administrators, and other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students’ educational, social, and emotional development.
  • Establish appropriate academic and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families.
  • Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and conducive to achieving goals.  Select, adapt, and individualize materials to meet students’ needs, including developmental, cognitive, and social needs.
  • Regularly assess student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs and abilities of the students.
  • Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development.  Be open and responsive to feedback to improve teaching and increase student learning.
  • Provide direction to paraprofessionals.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Lakeville Area Schools (ISD 194) is an award-winning public school district located in the south metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The district serves more than 12,000 students in Lakeville, as well as parts of Burnsville, Elko New Market, Eureka, Credit River, and New Market townships.
