Position Summary:
The Elementary Counselor will serve as a student-centered educator who is a learner, advocate, and warm demander for all learners.  Counselor is responsible for providing educational services with an emphasis on supporting student’s social emotional needs, mental health, engagement, and overall student experience.  Counselor will coordinate with staff, administration, and families to ensure their effectiveness in supporting every learner, every day.  The Counselor shall also strive to provide a positive atmosphere in which students are encouraged and assisted to develop feelings of acceptance, self-respect, emotional security, and high levels of achievement.   Candidate must have a learner, inclusionary, and equity-focused mindset and see that their presence has an impact with students and our school environment.  Position begins August 2023.

Position Requirements:
Valid Minnesota licensure. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in K-12 School Counseling, or related field and moderate experience.  Master’s degree preferred.

Elementary School Counselor

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Counsel with students on an individual and/or small group basis regarding personal, emotional, social and behavioral concerns including providing crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Support implementation of social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Conduct developmental guidance lessons in classroom settings, as planned in conjunction with the student support team, classroom teachers, and/or District-level barrier work.
  • Analyze barriers data; create, and implement interventions in conjunction with building support for teachers and principal.
  • Assist families to better understand the school and its programs and to strengthen the communication link between school and home.
  • A liaison to administrators, teachers, and families in identifying referrals to outside support agencies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications:

  •  Valid Minnesota School Counselor licensure

Elementary School Principal for Excelsior Elementary

  1. Serve as a member of the District’s administrative team and actively participate in the development, implementation, and achievement of the District’s goals.
  2. Provide general administration of the total school program, which requires meeting the needs of all students within the building.
  3. Provide leadership and oversight for the implementation of approved curriculum, assessments, and instruction programs, including immersion, at the building level.
  4. Lead in the recruitment, selection, staff development, and evaluation of staff members at the building level.
  5. Develop and complete mutual commitments tied directly to the District’s goals.
  6. Ensure effective implementation of after-school activities, enrichment and co-curricular activities in conjunction with other District staff.
  7. Communicate with parents, community members, and parent organizations concerning school programs and activities.
  8. Develop the school budget and approve the requisitions for supplies, equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the school.
  9. Oversee the development of and implementation of the student discipline and student recognition programs within the school.
  10. Implement state and federal regulations and School Board policies related to the health and safety of all students and employees.

Middle School Math/ADSIS Teacher .8 FTE

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a valid MN teaching licensure of 5-8 or 5-12 Mathematics or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with intervention math and support with secondary level students in an academic setting
  • Preferred experience in math teaching secondary students
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues, community and students
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
  • Provide high quality mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Foster a community where all people are valued, respected, seen and heard
  • Inspire robust academics, critical and creative thinking and continuous personal growth
  • Create world-class learning experiences that integrate multiple perspectives
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
