School Guidance Counselor – Elementary

C.E. Jacobson Elementary School (PK-6) is looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) guidance counselor.

The licensed school counselor is responsible for providing a school counseling program that is preventative in design, supportive of our school’s MTSS instructional and social-emotional frameworks, developmental in implementation, and will work with elementary aged students to serve the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.

Further responsibilities include: individual, small, and scheduled whole group sessions with students, working extensively within the MTSS social-emotional framework (providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports), block scheduling, tracking absences and contacting parents, preparing students for transition to high school. Serve as a consultant/partner with educators, families, and community members. Intervening during crisis situations. Other duties as assigned.

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to demonstrate the school-wide PBIS expectations with students so the learned skills transfer back into the general classroom.

Community Education – Youth Programs Coordinator

Job Title:  Community Education – Youth Programs Coordinator

Faribault Public Schools seeks a full-time (240 days/year) Youth Programs Coordinator to help lead and oversee select out-of-school-time and youth development programs for the department and the district.  These include Community School, Summer STEAM, Falcons After School, Little Falcons, Faribault Youth Center, Enrichment and other areas as needed.

General Definition of Work: The Youth Programs Coordinator will provide oversight and coordination in the areas of youth development and youth services programs.  In addition, this position will also serve as a coordinator in the Community Education Department in cooperation with the building/program leads and directors.  The coordinator will work directly with areas identified in need of youth programs, education and resources, while providing strategies and activities specifically designed for youth.

Essential Functions: Provide direct and indirect coordination services to students, staff and families in the area of youth programs, including (but not limited to) Community School, Summer STEAM, Falcons After School, Little Falcons, Faribault Youth Center, Enrichment and other areas as needed.
Provide consultation and support to students navigating educational opportunities best suited to their success.
Serve as a liaison as needed to develop and promote partnership opportunities in youth program experiences; serve on district committees representing youth programs.
Provide leadership, consultation and collaboration with teachers of students with youth program-related concerns; serve on various teams; attend meetings as a member of the district, provide training as needed.
Train staff on youth programs, youth development, and best practices as needed.
Identify and evaluate the needs of students in regards to youth programs; make program recommendations to address needs.
Help lead district efforts to increase the number of Faribault middle- and high-school age youth participating in extracurricular activities, in line with the district’s Achievement & Integration goals
Continually supervise students and staff to ensure safe, non-threatening and nurturing environments where all can thrive.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve District, building, departmental and/or grade-level goals; provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Create and maintain various promotional materials for distribution and marketing of youth programs into the community.
Generate program funding by securing grants, assisting with fundraising, and facilitating funds.
Oversee required data tracking and evaluation for youth programs.
Monitor program budgets; work with the Community Education Director and program leadership to develop  annual program budgets.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Support the functionality of the buildings in which they work as a key member of the building leadership team. Executes building’s student management plan including procedures for restorative practices, conflict management, restitution, suspension, dismissal, and re-entry.
Ensures practices that align with culturally proficient school systems aimed at reducing the student achievement gap. Advances building efforts to create empowering learning spaces that emphasize inclusion and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Maintains records of any student disciplinary actions taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and District policies.
Works with the principal in leading, coordinating and facilitating crisis management procedures.
Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required. Communicates the district’s vision, mission, core values and beliefs and provides professional expertise and assistance to individuals, other district staff, and the community concerning areas of expertise/knowledge. Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, district, and departmental meetings. Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, and technologies.
Complies with local, state, and federal laws.

Lower School Elementary Teacher

Upper School Mathematics & Computer Science Teacher

The Upper School has a full-time Mathematics and Computer Science teaching position beginning with the 2023-24 school year. Possible coursework includes algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and AP Computer Science. The position includes working in small learning teams through dedicated collaboration time, and advising a small group of students in our advisory program.
