Administrative Assistant – Nutrition Services/Buildings and Grounds (Class IV)

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of Administrative Assistant-Nutrition Services and Buildings & Grounds (Classification IV).  This is a 12-month position working 8 hours per day; Monday-Friday.  The hourly rate of pay is $22.82 per hour, based on the 2020-22 master agreement between SSP School District #6 and Local 12 Office & Professional Employees International Union.

Job Summary
Provide support to the Nutrition Services and Building & Grounds administrators, staff, students, and parents to promote a positive image of the South St. Paul Public Schools.  Protects the financial and private viability and credibility of the Federal Meals Program according to Federal guidelines.

Job Functions

Perform clerical duties such as typing correspondence, answering phones and questions, distributing messages, directing calls and visitors to appropriate parties, responding to telephone, voice mail and
e-mail communication as needed, filing, copying, processing mail, scheduling appointments, and organizing department information.
Assist in writing and preparing monthly menus for publication, building announcements, and correspondence.
Perform assigned tasks related to the computerized student meal account program.  Prepare and submit monthly meal claims to the state.
Assist with free and reduced meal application processing by reviewing applications, determining eligibility and communicating with families.
Provide meal application guidance and direction to families enrolling students in the district.
Manage records for free and reduced meals, monitoring of vendor purchases, Direct Certification (DCRT) family income data for Federal meals program and verification reports.
Maintain menu boards in school cafeterias and ensure software is functioning correctly.
Conduct Nutrition Service Department orientations for newly hired staff.
Track and maintain professional standard requirements for all department staff.  Assist in Back to School Training of Nutrition Services Staff.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including meals per labor hour, participation and food service receipts, to share with director, finance and/or individual kitchen managers.
Process accounts payable invoices and food service uniforms reimbursement orders.
Process and coordinate catering requests, transmits bills, collects payments, and prepares bank deposits.
Maintain family information records in compliance with Federal school meals program regulations – new student entries, withdrawals, address and phone changes, and enrollment data.
Manage central office point of sale system software and provides technical support of computers and software for customers and Nutrition Services staff.
Manage Student Meal Support Fund by maintaining accurate records, prepares correspondence to donors, families and district support staff.
Maintain child nutrition web page and coordinate with Technology department for changes.
Manage records of staff absences, track kitchen substitutes worked, and prepares time sheets for processing by payroll for food service staff.
Review maintenance/custodial staff timecards for processing by payroll. Manage time off and track comp time records for maintenance staff.
Assist with Building & Grounds Department orientations for newly hired staff.
Assist with tracking and maintaining records on required maintenance/custodial staff trainings.
Coordinate uniform ordering, cleaning and repairs for Maintenance & Custodial staff.
Provide assistance and support to families enrolling students in the district
Provide back up support within the district enrollment center.
Maintain office records and files.
Perform other duties as assigned

Position Opening – Program Support Coordinator

Position Overview: This position provides programmatic support and coordination for SSC programs under the guidance of Program Managers and the Leadership Team, including but not limited to Project MOMENTUM, STEM Forward, SE MN Together, Student Academics, Paraprofessional Support, Legislative Forum, Board of  Directors, and other Educational Services.

Essential Duties – SSC Program/Service Coordination: Support Program Managers in coordinating aspects of SSC programs and services, including planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities related to Project MOMENTUM, STEM Forward, SE MN Together, Student Academics, Paraprofessional Support, Legislative Forum, AASA/MASA, Tax & Levy, Town Hall, Redefining Ready, and other Educational Services. Coordination activities may include identifying service delivery strategies and resource allocation, coordinating contracts, coordinating logistical needs for meetings, planning and executing workshops and events, facilitating advisory groups and committees, and supporting partners and sponsors.

Essential Duties –  General Operations Support: Support internal operations, including preparing Board of Directors and Superintendent Advisory Committee meeting materials, maintaining organizational files and documents, preparing correspondence/reports/presentations, planning internal meetings, coordinating Board elections, provide exceptional customer service to members and public, coordinate staff meetings and activities.  Provide registration and database oversite, including coordinating event tasks such as post processing, billing, continuing education unit processing, evaluation processing, printing participant lists, name tags, and registration of events, etc.

Education, Experience, Qualifications:  High school diploma minimum, some post-secondary education desirable, three years relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge of public education and/or experience in a school setting preferred.  Must be 1) proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Google Docs, 2) able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively prioritize demands, while maintaining attention to detail, quality, and timeliness, 3) demonstrate initiative, proficiency, decision-making, and good judgment to optimize the time of those supported, 4) able to effectively work with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring professionalism, diplomacy, friendliness, and firmness, 5) demonstrate excellent application of grammar, punctuation, and English usage, 6) strong communication and interpersonal skills that are sufficient to exchange or convey information with clarity and to receive work direction from multiple colleagues, and 7) able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with Southeast Service Cooperative compensation guidelines based primarily on education and experience, with a range between $50,000 and $65,000 plus a generous benefits package.

Work Environment: This position will work onsite at the Southeast Service Cooperative office in Rochester, MN.  The expectation will be to be in the office Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM with some flexibility based on job responsibilities.

Elementary English Language Learner Teacher – SY 2023-2024

Provide high quality instruction to identified students and serve as a collaborative member of our English Language Learner (EL) Team. Position follows a co-teaching/pull-out model, with EL Teacher collaborating with general education classroom teacher, working in collaboration to meet students’ needs in the area of literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.

Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota Teaching License. Valid ELL/EL/ESL Minnesota Teaching License. Consistent and reliable attendance.

Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Education, certificate and/or experience in the area of reading intervention education preferred, or related field and moderate experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Valid Minnesota Teaching License. Valid ELL/EL/ESL Minnesota Teaching License. Ideal candidate will have a strong equity background, believing and ensuring all kids learn at high levels. A strong demonstrated use of 21st Century learning strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve the highest levels. A strong background in literacy and language is preferred with in depth understanding and application of language acquisition and WIDA Standards.

Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired.
