ECFE Children’s Teacher

ECFE Children’s Teacher

Schedule:  Monday-Friday, typically 9:30-11:30am at our District Education Center (class times may vary)

Position is part-time, part of the teacher bargaining unit and based at District Education Center.  Salary and benefits part of Master Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement structured parent/child education classes
  • Create and implement lesson plans based on Early Childhood Indicators of Progress, integration with parent education and best practices in early childhood.
  • Create a learning environment and facilitate learning that is developmentally appropriate, respectful and inclusive
  • Model effective adult/child interaction
  • Serve as a resource to caregivers around early childhood development
  • Maintain up-to-date records according to program requirements
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development

Minimum Requirements:

Must be have valid MN teaching license in Early Childhood Education with Parent Education licenses preferred or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years or more experience in an ECFE program desired
  • Working  knowledge of Early Childhood Indicators of Progress Birth-5, best practices and strategies and individual learning styles
  • Demonstration of  a warm and welcoming rapport with children and families
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with children and parents
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving and flexibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Summary:  
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Coordinator, plan and implement lesson plans based on Early Childhood Indicators of Progress, integrating parent education and best practices in early childhood.  Applicants must have a valid teaching license in Early Childhood Education and 2 or more years’ experience in an ECFE program.  A dual license with Parent Education is preferred.  Applicant must have working knowledge of Early Childhood Indicators of Progress Birth-5, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to work effectively with children and parents.

Elementary Special Education Teacher

Positive behavior intervention supports and MTSS preferred. Experience in utilizing an inquiry approach to instruction across all content areas and a background in STEM and Everyday Math beneficial.

DUTIES:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, translation services for Spanish speaking
families, liaison with Somali-speaking families, supervision of students indoors and/or out of
doors, support students under the direct supervision of a teacher.

Paid Work Hours: 6.5 hrs/day
Days/Year (includes 7 holidays): 179

QUALIFICATIONS:
– High School Diploma required.
– Bi-lingual speaker; fluent in speaking and interpreting Somali and English for
interpreting services
– Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.

WAGES: $18.37/hour, other benefits according to the Paraprofessional Contract.
