School Psychologist, Delano School District

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The School Psychologist is responsible for conducting diagnostic assessments and evaluations to determine special education eligibility and collaborates with all key individuals to determine eligibility and level of service need. The School psychologist provides direct and/or indirect support and interventions to students, consults with teachers, families, and other school-employed professionals to improve support strategies, works with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborates with community providers to coordinate needed services. Through their work, school psychologists help MAWSECO member districts successfully implement a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework in order to: improve academic achievement, promote positive behavior and mental health, support diverse learners, create safe, positive school climates, strengthen family-school partnerships, improve school-wide assessment and accountability, and monitor individual student progress in academics and behavior.

Special Education Supervisor (Admin.) 1.0 FTE

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Special Education Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, coordination, oversight, and facilitating special education services and programs within the assigned member district(s). Representative duties include: provides training, guidance, oversight, and monitors and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures of the cooperative, the assigned member district(s), and any applicable federal, state, and local laws; in consultation with the director of special education  provides technical assistance on legal and regulatory compliance in areas of special education for member district staff and administrator(s); coordinates staff development, facilitates special education transportation, leads special education department meetings, makes recommendations on budgetary needs/requirements and staffing allocations/needs, serves as a resource and liaison between member district(s) and MAWSECO, and assists in the design and implementation of curriculum, instructional methodology, programming, and facility needs.

ALC Teacher

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Licensed School Nurse is a guardian of the health (both physical and mental) for staff and students. The LSN must manage all the programs and students so that they all are safe and any unexpected events or medical emergencies are managed in a safe and effective manner. The School Nurse shall enforce the State rules and regulations to ensure the operation of the educational program. To provide assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management and/or referrals concerning the health and medical care needs of students for the purpose of minimizing absences due to illness, maximizing educational opportunities, and creating a healthy school climate.

 

ABOUT CORNERSTONES:
Cornerstones is a therapeutic setting IV, multi-school district program located at the Wright Technical Center in Buffalo, MN and managed by MAWSECO. This program serves adolescents, grades 7-12 with emotional and behavioral needs that cannot be met within their home school district. The primary goal of the program is to provide educational support along with social skills training to acquire skills necessary to become independent learners in order to return to their home district as soon as possible.

ABOUT EASTERN WRIGHT:
The Eastern Wright Program is an intermediate level (grades 6-8) federal setting IV special education program designed to meet the needs of students who experience significant emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. The program is located in the Wright Technical Center. The primary goal of the program is to provide social skills and educational support to reduce stress and acquire skills in the emotional, behavioral, social and academic areas and return to the mainstream school as soon as possible. By reaching goals determined by the IEP team, which includes the parents, the Eastern Wright program is able to positively affect the future development and success of each student served.

ABOUT JOURNEYS:
The Journeys program is located at the MAWSECO Education Center in Howard Lake and serves children with behavioral needs in grades K-4. It is a multi-district program and is managed by Meeker & Wright Special Education Cooperative. Journeys serves young students with behavioral needs that cannot be met within their home school district. Students receive academic classes, social, and life skills which are individualized to foster learning and successful interactions with peers and adults. Students are recommended for these services by their IEP team and with the approval of district administration. The students reintegrate, as appropriate, back to their home school as recommended by the IEP team.

ABOUT SHOLUND:
Sholund School for Girls is located in Annandale, MN and is the educational facility on the grounds of Village Ranch, Inc. Residential facility. This program started in November of 2016 and serves girls in grades 8-12. The educational program provides a flexible and safe environment in which students can experience educational success. Enrollment is made up of students primarily living in the Village Ranch residence.

ABOUT STEP:
STEP (Student Transitioning in Educational Programming) is an educational program for young adults ages 18-21 with special needs. It is a community-based special education program emphasizing work experience and independent living skills. The 18-21 year old program services students who have completed high school requirements but are in need of extended schooling in two of the transition areas listed: Independent Living; Employment; Post Secondary Education and Training. The program was designed to meet these needs in the least restrictive, age appropriate environment.

ABOUT TREK:
TREK is a program designed for students who have been identified as having severe communication or neurological disorders. The target population for this program includes students who have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorders or Developmental Cognitive Disorders and exhibit behavioral patterns which negatively affect the ability to interact with peers or adults in the regular school setting. TREK provides program solutions to effectively create an environment of successful learners.

ABOUT VILLAGE RANCH:
Village Ranch Alternative Program (VRAP) is located in Cokato, MN and is an educational facility on the grounds of the Village Ranch, Inc. Residential facility. The educational program provides a flexible and safe environment in which students can experience educational success. VRAP serves boys ages 12 – 18 some of whom have pre-identified disabilities. Enrollment is made up of boys primarily living in the Village Ranch residence.

ABOUT WINGS:
The Wings Alternative Program, located in Litchfield, MN is a residential treatment center for chemical dependency. The program serves male and female adolescents ages 14 years and older from throughout Minnesota and from other states. MAWSECO staff members provide educational services to students attending this program.

The St. Croix River Education District (SCRED) is proud to serve six school districts in east-central Minnesota: Chisago Lakes, East Central, Hinckley-Finlayson, North Branch, Pine City, and Rush City. The SCRED office and our member districts are located in and around the small community of Rush City, MN, which is northeast of Minneapolis/St.Paul. Position Purpose:
The Executive Director oversees the administration of the education district under the direction of the Superintendents’ Operating Committee and Governing Board. This position manages and supervises the implementation of all educational programs, support services, and business and compliance functions for the education district on behalf of its member districts. Furthermore, the Executive Director defines and champions change initiatives, organizational strategies, and effective practices aligned with the mission of SCRED.

Essential Duties:

  • Educational Programs
    • Administer all educational programs to conform to board-approved policies and procedures
    • Assure education district-wide compliance with statutes and regulations regarding special education and other state and/or federally funded programming (e.g., Adult Basic Education, Adults with Disabilities, English Language Learners, Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services, Carl Perkins)
    • Provide leadership and support to the education district’s educational programs
  • Support Services
    • Collaborate with key stakeholder groups to ensure service needs are met in member districts
    • Provide strategic oversight and direction for all service areas including long-range planning, collaboration across disciplines, and troubleshooting of  implementation barriers
    • Demonstrate knowledge of effective professional learning strategies and methods for adult learners and assists in the development of professional learning plans aligned to member district needs
    • Assist districts in the implementation of programming for all students using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
    • Provide recommendations to member districts based on relevant Federal and State statutes, guidelines, and regulations
    • Provide leadership to the state-approved Chisago and Pine County Interagency Collaboratives
    • Represent and collaborate with state and outside agencies on behalf of member district needs
  • Business and Compliance Functions
    • Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate the performance of the administrative leadership team, as well as other designated education district positions
    • Develop and facilitate the implementation of the education district’s strategic action plan
    • Anticipate member district needs and creates ongoing feedback mechanisms; identify and champion opportunities for the development and implementation of new services
    • Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including board members, administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, students, parents, community members, and other educational partners
    • Develop and revise administrative procedures, as well as policies to bring forth to the Superintendents’ Operating Committee and Governing Board
    • Manage news releases and/or other items of public interest that pertain to educational matters, policies, procedures, school-related incidents or events
    • Maintain accurate records for the schools, including a system of financial accounts, business and property records, and personnel records
    • Prepare, administer, and monitor the SCRED budget in collaboration with the Business Manager
    • Oversee the State’s fiscal monitoring processes for the education district and its member districts
