The Executive Director of Technology is responsible for setting vision in alignment with the district’s strategic plan, providing leadership, and leading continuous improvement of technology services to ensure that the division plays a strategic partnership role in accomplishing the mission of the organization. The Executive Director of Technology has primary responsibility for the direction of the district’s technology and information systems vision, strategies, resources and infrastructure to support operational and instructional goals. The Executive Director of Technology provides leadership for the Instructional & Information Technology Team and is responsible to: align technology related decisions with the district’s strategic plan; lead implementation of digital learning priority initiatives; manage enterprise technology systems; manage technological infrastructure; manage instructional systems; manage information systems; and manage technology support services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership and Vision: Collaborate with executive leadership team, school board members, system leaders, partners, and other stakeholders to build a shared vision for meaningful and effective uses of technology and to develop and implement strategies to accomplish that vision and meet district goals. Ensure a comprehensive, effective and efficient technology program that serves the operational needs and strategic direction of the district. Instructional Focus and Professional Development: Coordinate ongoing, purposeful professional development for all staff using technologies; ensure a sufficient budget through implementation and assessment process of emerging technologies. Collaborate with teaching and learning staff to maintain a comprehensive adult development and technology support program that serves the instructional needs and strategic direction of the district. Convene and support cross-functional teams in order to optimize engagement in decision-making, technology support, professional development, and other aspects of the district’s technology plan. Build relationships with all stakeholders to assess interest, determine goals, and measure stakeholder satisfaction. Technology and Support Resources: Direct and coordinate implementation of all tasks central to technical, infrastructure, standards, and integration of technology for all facets of district operations. Ensure a high value of investment in operational technology that supports effective and efficient operations while providing tools that support decision-making and learning. Use technology to improve communication, overseeing network infrastructure to ensure functionality and security of e-mail, school and district websites, voice mail systems, and other forms of communication. Lead budget development, which guides purchasing decisions, related to technology. Collaborate to establish systems and tools for data mining and reporting data in meaningful ways to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
