Job Summary
To provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports student academic, social, physical and personal career development in an elementary school setting. This is accomplished through planning and preparation, maintaining an educational environment, teaching academic and life skills, and providing professional responsibilities to our staff, students, and parents.
ELL (English Language Learner) Assistant
This position is responsible for assisting one or more licensed teachers in providing instructional and/or behavioral support for students whom English is not their first language.
Special Education Teacher (Licensed Staff – 1.0 FTE)
Basic Function of the Position:
The Special Education Teacher’s primary function is to plan and provide special education services for students with disabilities.

Director of Special Education
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts assessments, testing and observations of students for the purpose of identifying special education needs and eligibility for services
- Follows all applicable state and federal regulations and due process procedures
- Coordinates Individual Educational Plan (IEP) team meetings for students.
- Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students’ IEP’s and behavior management plans.
Provides appropriate direct and indirect services for students who qualify for special education services. - Collaborates with general education staff members
- Communicates effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete student records
- Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Follow all district procedures and policies for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for students and staff.
- Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.
- Follow district standards in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts.
EL Teacher
One 1.0 FTE English as a Second Language teaching position K-12 beginning Fall of 2018. Position may serve elementary students, secondary students, or a combination of both.
Elementary Principal
DISTRICT INFORMATION:
The South Washington County School district includes four St. Paul suburbs of Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park and Woodbury as well as portions of three other communities. Our district includes approximately 100,000 residents with 19,000 students enrolled in our schools. We have sixteen (K-5) elementary schools, four (6-8) middle schools, three (9-12) high schools and an alternative high school.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a building instructional leader.
- Create and maintain a school culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.
- Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and personal responsibility.
- Develop and administer annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for all students.
- Continually monitor student progress and outcomes. Work with staff to improve student learning and achievement.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and public relations with staff, students, parents and community members through all programs and activities.
- Prepare and manage budget for the building, maintain accurate budgetary records as required by district policies and procedures.
- Establish a high performing staff through effective hiring and evaluation systems. Develop, coach, train, mentor and manage staff as appropriate.
- Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, goals and strategic plan of the school district including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all laws, school board policies and school district procedures.
- Supervise the instructional programs of the school on a regular basis to ensure the use of effective instructional strategies, content and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
- Work with staff to identify professional needs and plan, organize, and facilitate programs that improve staff effectiveness.
- Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages staff and students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students.
- Establish a professional rapport with students and staff. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel.
- Serve as a role model.
- Participate in professional development workshops, activities and seminars.
