CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (COTA)
This is a school term, job level 9 ($24.89-$25.25), 7.5 hours per day (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a half hour duty free lunch) position. Candidates must hold a State of Minnesota Department of Health Occupational Therapy Assistant license. Applicants must have two years of study at an institution of higher education (AA, AS, 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits).
Child Care Workers
These are school term positions at the Paul Bunyan Center Early Childhood Program, J.W. Smith Elementary School and the Jack & Jill Preschool Program. The positions are Monday-Friday from 2:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The person in this position is responsible for the care of young children as well as providing a safe and secure environment, communicating with parents, and recordkeeping. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed two years of post-secondary education, have experience in early childhood, and hold or be able to obtain first aid and CPR certifications. The hourly pay range is $12.33-$15.24.
SPECIAL EDUCATION SECRETARY
This is a school term, job level 1 ($18.00-$18.39/hour), 8 hours/day (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a half hour duty free lunch) position split between Gene Dillon Elementary and Bemidji Middle School. The purpose of this position is to assist special education staff with effective office operations and communication between families, staff, students, administration and outside agencies. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, accurate typing skills, experience working with computers/computerized data and experience in office procedures.
Special Education Paraprofessional
These are job level 4 ($20.10-$20.47/hour), school term, variable hours per day positions to begin in the 2023-2024 school year. Special Education Paraprofessionals assist in the instruction of students. Positions may be available in the following areas: SPECIAL EDUCATION- candidates must be able to lift, change diapers, assist with special medical procedures and restrain students (training will be provided), students may have individual education plans in regular and special education settings; BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT-candidates should have experience working with children who have behavior and/or emotional problems. Because behavior paraprofessionals may need to physically restrain students on occasion, applicants must be in good physical health and willing to restrain students after receiving training; PARAPROFESSIONAL FOR SEVERE/PROFOUND-persons in these positions work with students that are developmentally handicapped. In addition to assisting with academic instruction, candidates must be able to lift, change diapers, assist with special medical procedures, and restrain students, training will be provided.
A minimum score of 460 on the ParaPro Assessment or two years of study at an institution of higher education (AA, AS, 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) is preferred but not required
