Community Education-Community School Site Assistant

Responsibilities: Assist Site Leader and Club Leaders/Teachers with youth activities, which include: literacy skill development, making connections for social and emotional learning, leading art projects and facilitating movement activities. Assist with science and art projects and movement activities or lead various activities for K-5 students, such as homework help, outdoor games, and assisting with daily set up and clean up and additional tasks as assigned.

Work-based Learning Coordinator

Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented Work Based Learning Coordinator to serve multiple school districts within the Education District.

Essential Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Instructs students and develops work experiences for students with disabilities
  • Present competencies as directed by Minnesota Department of Education
  • Maintains existing vocational opportunities while developing new community partnerships
  • Promotes student learning in self-awareness/advocacy, disability awareness, and transition services
  • Act as an essential team member of the transitions program by participating in team meetings, IEP meetings and overall positive team culture
  • Work with other staff members in implementing accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a Special Education Teacher required
  • Licensure in Work Based Learning or enrolled in Work Based Learning program required
  • Experience working with transition age students preferred
  • Experience arranging community vocational opportunities preferred
  • Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and consulting skills
  • Ability to use technology as a management and instruction tool
  • Valid driver’s license

Travel Requirements: Travel between member districts is required.
Working Conditions:

  • Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Salary Range:

$52,443 – $85,862 (based on education and experience). Full benefits package available.

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and three Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, Students Achieving Integrated Services (SAIL) that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services.  Along with the SAIL programs, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a program named for Specialized Programming, Education, Comprehensive Therapy and other Resources for their Unique Minds (SPECTRUM). Special Education Teacher (SAIL)

HVED is seeking talented and motivated full-time Special Education Teachers to work in the SAIL  Program. The SAIL  program is located in Kellogg, Minnesota and provides services and support to Kindergarten through High School students during the school day.

Qualifications:

  • Minnesota licensure in Special Education licensure required
  • Successful experience as a Special Education Teacher required
  • Experience and knowledge of writing, monitoring, and implementing IEPs strongly preferred
  • Experience in developing and implementing a variety of behavior strategies and interventions for effective programming
  • Maintain certification in Safety Care, training provided by the district

Competencies:

  •  Must possess the knowledge of MN standards and options for achieving those standards
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to parents, students, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of students
  • Ability to collaborate with and provide direction to paraprofessionals
  • Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  •  Accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to children and adolescents
  • Conduct assessments as part of the special education evaluation process: academic, observations and
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments
  • Provide case management for students and maintain student records of services provided
  • Participates in IEP and in-take meetings
  • Utilizes technology to facilitate learning
  • Understands and implements the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population
  • Develop and implement positive behavior and social skills curriculum
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • SY 2024-2025

Working Conditions:

  •  Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate sudden jarring movement.
  • Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may require wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Locations are generally moderately noisy.

Salary/Benefits:

  • $52,443 – $85,862 based on years of experience and credentials.
