Position Summary:
Owatonna Public Schools, a progressive school district of 5,000 students located one hour south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Principal at Owatonna High School. The successful candidate will assist the High School Principal to share in the duties and responsibilities of providing leadership to curriculum development, supervision of instruction, evaluation of teachers, scheduling, and public relations for grades 9-12 (enrollment of approximately 1,500 students).
The school district is seeking an experienced, highly successful administrator who possesses and demonstrates 21st century leadership skills, excellent human relations skills, strong background in leading curriculum and instruction efforts, leadership approaches, collaborative approaches in working with individuals and groups, experience working with RTI and PLC structures, ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff, and knowledge and experience in implementing educational best practices within a K-12 educational environment.
Performs difficult professional work assisting the Principal in developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the School Board, meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff, maintaining records and files, preparing reports and related work as apparent or assigned. Share in the duties and responsibilities of providing leadership to curriculum development, supervision of instruction, evaluation of teachers, scheduling, and public relations.
Position Requirements:
A valid Minnesota K-12 Principal license is required or eligible for such license. Must hold or be eligible for a MN license as a secondary principal.
