Job Description: Faribault Public Schools is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time Community Relations Coordinator to begin July 2018. The successful candidate for this coordinator position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for all district wide internal and external communications consistent with a plan that supports and aligns with the district’s strategic plan, enhances the school district’s image, engages the community in the schools and builds public support for the school district. This Coordinator will be part of a leadership team which supports and encourages community involvement with district goals and building school/community pride.
Faribault Public Schools is a rural Pre-K through Adult School District located about 50 miles south of the Twin-Cities. The school district currently serves approximately 3,700 students in Faribault and our surrounding areas within our community of 23,000 citizens within the city limits. District sites include one early childhood center, three elementary schools K-5, one middle school 6-8, one high school 9-12, one area learning center 9-12 and one education center for adult education.

Essential Functions: Develops communication for the district which supports the Districts mission and goals and creates a positive image to stake holders. Advises district on strategies to effectively communicate messages and relate effectively to diverse audiences, both external and internal, promoting programs, policies and school board actions in ways which promote the district brand, aligning and promoting school pride. Assists in the district website design and content, coordinating with staff to ensure content is up to date and accurate. Identifies opportunities for positive media coverage and develops publications, video, social media, web or other communications to reach key audiences. Develops ideas and marketing techniques for publications. Plans and coordinates periodic polling of public opinion on current issues of strategic importance to the district to inform communications strategies. Helps in the articulation of annual performance goals of each building and district strategic plan and reports progress to the Superintendent and Board. Attends and covers school board meetings to stay apprised of and communicate about board discussions.
