The FOCUS (Focused Opportunities to Consistently Teach Universal Social Skills) Program serves students at our River Valley Education Center in grades 6-8. FOCUS is an Autism Program (ASD).

Description:
Special Education Teacher, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days.

Educate, plan, teach, facilitate, and evaluate students identified as having a disability.  Many of the students exhibit social, emotional, cognitive and/or behavioral needs that require a significant level of support.

Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).

Qualifications:
EBD, DCD, ASD, or ABS license preferred (Open to Tier 2 License Eligible Candidates).
Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
Strong classroom management skills.
Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff.
Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Restrictive Procedures is required and provided by the District.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Pay & Benefits:

Description:
School Social Worker, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days.

“Focused Opportunities to Consistently Teach Universal Social Skills” serves students in grades 6 – 8. FOCUS is an Autism Spectrum (ASD) program.

Provides direct and indirect social work services to students, as indicated on students’ Individual  Education Plans (IEPs). Works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide mental health assessments, services, resources, and referrals. Services are designed to improve social skills, assist with problem-solving, provide behavior management skills, and understand how mental health issues impact students’ education. All the students have IEP’s.

School Social Work License

Ability to perform assessments for mental health, and crisis.
