The Ascent Program serves students at our River Valley Education Center in grades 6-8. Ascent is an Emotional/Behavioral Program (EBD).

Description:
Special Education Teacher, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days.

Educate, plan, teach, facilitate, and evaluate students identified as having a disability.  Many of the students exhibit social, emotional, cognitive and/or behavioral needs that require a significant level of support.

Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).

Qualifications:
EBD, DCD, ASD, or ABS license preferred (Open to Tier 2 License Eligible Candidates).
Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
Strong classroom management skills.
Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff.
Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Restrictive Procedures is required and provided by the District.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Job Summary:
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist is part of the educational process that prepares students from birth through 21 years with visual impairments to travel independently and safely. The itinerant O&M Specialist travels to the students’ assigned schools and/or home to provide direct and/or consultative services relating to visual impairment. These services enable the students to travel safely, efficiently, and independently in their home, school, and community environments.  Community-based instruction is assumed and is a critical component of the O&M program.  It is often necessary for instruction to occur off-campus, so the ability to transport students in a district vehicle is required.

Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, serving students from birth to 21 years. The position involves evaluation, direct and consultative service in school and home environments.

Qualifications:
Possess either certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or BVI licensure (dual certified is ideal).
Valid Minnesota Driver’s license is necessary as this position requires travel to the students’ assigned schools and/or home to provide direct and/or consultative services.

Services are designed to improve social skills, assist with problem-solving, provide behavior management skills, and understand how mental health issues impact students’ education. All the students have IEP’s.

Special Education Teacher (ELC Marshall) – $3000 Signing Bonus

POSITION AVAILABLE:  Special Education Teacher (multiple positions)

 

POSITION LOCATION:  Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC), with placement at the ELC – Marshall.
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Special Education Teacher identifies, designs, evaluates and provides individual educational instruction and programming for a small caseload of special education students with Paraprofessional support in the classroom.  In addition, SWWC provides professional development specific to Setting IV, offers New Teacher Center Coaching, and collaboration with our Due Process Specialist staff.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  Designs and implements appropriate educational and/or behavioral programs for students to meet specific needs and goals of the students; participates and conducts portions of the evaluations and observations to determine special education eligibility of students placed in the program and conducts periodic assessments to determine educational progress of the students; conducts and/or participates in IEP Meetings for students in the program; performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree required.  Emotional/Behavior Disorder (E/BD) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) licensure from MDE is preferred, but not necessary if willing or in the process of getting licensure.  Teacher will provide services to students in a self-contained, all day setting, collaborating with paraprofessionals and other member school district staff.  Must have good organizational and communication skills.

 

CONTRACT/SALARY:  This full-time (185-day) position begins on August 6, 2025, for the 2025-2026 school year.  Bachelor’s degree salary range of $50,855 to $71,248.  Master’s salary range of $60,646 to $92,477.  PhD salary range of $70,196 to $94,068.  Salary depending on education, qualifications, abilities, and experience. Candidates who have not previously served in a Special Education Teacher position within our organization are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus.
