School Social Worker

School Social Worker

Description:  Under the direction of the Director of Special Education and the Building Principal, the Licensed School Social Worker provides direct and indirect social work services to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school, and facilitates communication among school, home and community providers.

Job Summary:
1. Provides school social work services to students who are at-risk and/or are demonstrating social/emotional/behavioral problems within the school setting.
2. Provides direct and indirect school social work services as a related service in support of special education.
3. Acts as a liaison between the home, school and community providers to access, mobilize and coordinate services.
4. Designs and develops tiered interventions to meet the needs of the students in need of assistance.
5. Collects, analyzes, and reports information on selected programs and students as required by the School District and state policy.
6. Connects with all students in the building to serve as a positive and caring adult role model in the building.
7. Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
8. Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as apparent or assigned.

Background Information:  MAWSECO is an agency of seven member school districts (Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Litchfield, Maple Lake and Rockford) that have joined together to provide services in the area of special education. The mission of the Cooperative is to provide quality special education leadership, services and support to its seven member school districts’ staff, students and families as well as other agencies/districts that purchase its services.  The MAWSECO central office is located in Howard Lake, MN which is west of the metro and south of St. Cloud.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Effective immediately, Human Resources is accepting online applications for the position of Water Safety Instructor (WSI) at Central Square Community Center.  This position will work up to 20 hours per week; hours vary.

Job Summary
Teach swimming lessons to youth and adults as directed by Aquatics Lead Instructor using techniques and procedures specified by the program.

Job Functions

Provide swim instruction to students of all ages and abilities in a positive, fun, learning environment.
Stress proper techniques and maintain safe environment for each level of swim lesson.
Experience working with children and/or adults in small groups.
Be a positive role model for respectful behavior and problem-solving strategies
Work with youth in a group setting and on an individual basis to teach specific skills.
Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
Prepare lesson plans to correlate with participant level and level being taught.
Fill out progress reports properly prior to the last day of lessons including positive/encouraging comments.
Maintain an organized pool environment.
Maintain and complete logs and records.
Follow established emergency procedures and respond appropriately in an emergency situation.
Attend all required aquatics staff in-service training and meetings.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned.

Lifeguard

Job Summary
Ensure the safety of patrons during pool usage by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Job Functions

Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
Enforce all pool rules, policies and procedures to prevent accidents.
Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the water, on the pool deck and on the diving board.
Maintain logs and records.
Perform assists or rescues as necessary.
Be attentive and ensure the safety of all users.
Administer first aid and/or CPR as needed.
Be on pool deck as patrons enter the pool area and remain on pool deck until all patrons depart.
Implement emergency procedures in cases of serious injury.
Act professionally and courteously to instructors, students, and other patrons.
Report hazards or potential hazards immediately to the Director of Community Education.
Be prepared to close a problem area of the facility, if necessary.
Assist patrons with orienting themselves to the different depths of the pool.
Attend all required aquatics staff in-service trainings and meetings
Remain diligent in providing a safe environment.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.

Aquatics Lead Instructor

Effective immediately, Human Resources will accept applications for the position of Aquatics Lead Instructor at Central Square Community Center.  Rate of pay is $20.00; up to 20 hours per week.

Job Summary
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the aquatics program.

Job Functions

Supervise aquatics programming.
Research, develop, and implement new aquatics programming.
Evaluate programming and recommend changes as necessary.
Provide leadership, supervision, training and safety needs of the aquatics staff.
Provide oversight and updating to program processes.
Oversee risk management, training and safety needs of the aquatics program; assess equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
Maintain and develop with the high school program to facilitate collaboration with youth initiatives.
Maintain accurate and complete program records
Be a positive role model for respectful behavior and program solving strategies.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Maintain current certification as a Water Safety Instructor and/or lifeguard
Demonstrated prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned

Integration & Equity Liaison – Specialist

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, Full-Time, 10-months per year
Start Date:  January 3, 2022

Responsibilities:

Provide academic support and mentoring to students (monitor grades, help students understand the skills needed for academic success, work with staff to develop academic success plans).
Provide positive support and guidance to students, counsel individual students to resolve or remediate problems (problem solve, decision making, self-advocacy, conflict management, social skills).
Cultural mentoring for middle and high school students around topics such as; identity development, race, mindset, bias, stereotypes, situational appropriateness, media, differences and more.
Work with and maintain open communication with families to meet student needs and to bridge access to academic, social and emotional growth opportunities.  Assist families in accessing school resources.
Work with appropriate administrative staff to provide support services for students in crisis (i.e. emotional, social support, conflict resolution).  Refer students and families to district support and community agencies as needed.
Work collaboratively with team members, parents, teachers, and other student support staff in meeting the educational and developmental needs of individual students.
Participate as necessary in the Dean PLC and other departmental and administrative meetings to analyze school data and develop action plans to ensure educational equity for each student. Specifically to partner with BILT, SIT, SST, PBIS teams.
Work to create increased school connectedness by supporting culturally inclusive clubs, character building activities, community building activities, service learning projects, cross cultural events, and student leadership activities.
Assist in supervising after school/evening functions, registrations nights, back to school night, concerts, etc.  Specific events will depend on individual buildings and assignments.
Establish and grow strong community partnerships (colleges and universities, social services, religious institutions) to offer educational opportunities, engage in service-learning, and provide students and families with community resources.
Partner with Student Support Services make phone calls (interpret when necessary) to families regarding recurring academic concerns, attendance, health, lunch accounts, field trips or behavior issues or other requests by principals.
Participate in facilitating building and district-wide staff professional development.
Develop monthly data/reports that support education equity.
Other related duties as assigned.
