Mathematics Teacher – Learning Center (Grades 9-12)

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students’ skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

Develops and administers mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real an imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations and geometry, and promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday existence and problem-solving.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Maintains familiarity with district and Minnesota State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of a wide range of mathematic subject areas, including arithmetic equations, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and other related areas.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License:Minnesota State Certification as a Mathematics Education Teacher
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation
EducationBachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Essential Functions: This position will assist the Principal in leading the school’s educational and instructional programs, operations and personnel to ensure the educational, emotional, social, and physical needs of all students. The candidate selected for this position works with the principal and other support personnel to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community members; while collaborating and communicating effectively to facilitate meaningful relationships, and provide innovative leadership through our educational offerings. Faribault Public Schools expects our team members to uphold equitable and inclusive practices for all students. This position is 225 days per year, beginning on 7/1/21.
In addition this administrator will assist with and lead the following duties:Assist in leading innovative (including but not limited to) and successful educational and career pathway programs, as well as proactive intervention programs, such as the 9th Grade Academy, ADSIS, RISE, the Nest (student store), and help facilitate our online school.
Development of building policies and procedures dealing with behavior management, restorative practices, parent, student, and teacher issues.
Assist with the development of the master schedule, registration, and determining assignment of teachers.
Responsible for coordination and monitoring of student databases, attendance procedures, records; and accountability and reporting for related grants, programs, and other activities.
Foster high school achievement through coordination and supervision of student personnel services to ensure student educational needs are met.
Assists with hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff.
Coordination and monitoring of grade reporting procedures and maintenance of student records.
Resolve operational problems of the school in the absence of the Principal.
Integral member of the district leadership team serving on district and community committees.

Elementary School Principal

Essential Functions:   The Elementary School Principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the school, planning and directing the instructional programs by ensuring the curriculum, technology, instruction, strategies and assessment of student progress are coherent components in the teaching and learning process, administering school buildings and grounds operations, participating in staff, student and community activities, organizing, directing, evaluating and supervising assigned certified and classified staff, and related work as apparent or assigned.
In addition they assist with the following duties:Provide leadership in the development of the learning program; communicate with teachers to assure instructional programs are meeting the needs of the students and district.
Provide leadership in the development of the organizational pattern, curriculum and instructional program located at the school site.
Creates and maintain the health, safety and welfare of students, staff and parents; administers discipline in accordance with district policies within building and grounds.
Provide supervision and conduct evaluation of school district employees assigned to the school site.
Participate and contribute to district level administration; serves as a communication link between site and district
Supervise student assessment, placement, behavior and attendance.
Plan and direct the business operation of the site.
In cooperation with teachers, formulate and maintain a staff development plan that addresses the needs of the school site.
Facilitate parent, student and/or staff advisory groups.
Facilitate communication between school and home to promote parent involvement in the educational programs.
Facilitate external relationship building by developing programming that addresses specific and unique needs of local students.
Attend all regular board meetings to represent the building and grounds for the district.
