Juvenile Detention Center Teacher

Caledonia Public Schools is searching for a teacher to run the Houston County Juvenile Detention Center learning program for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The hire will work from the Houston County Juvenile Detention Center at the Houston County Courthouse. The Houston County JDC can hold up to eight students for up to eight days (school days). Special Education licensure is preferred, but not required. The teacher/District will apply for the Cross-Curricular Delivery Permission required by the Professional Educator Licensing Standards Board. The Houston County JDC School will follow the Caledonia Area Public School Calendar. Lead Counselor/Behavior Specialist (elementary) – 0.5 FTE

Start Date:  2024-25 school year

This position is part-time 0.5 FTE, located at  Wildwood Elementary.

Salary and benefits are part of the Teacher Master Agreement.

Minimum Requirements:  Must have a valid MN School Social Worker (Pre-K -12), School Counselor license,  School Psychologist license, or be able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid MN School Counselor license, School Psychologist license, School Social Worker (Pre-K -12).
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to deliver positive behavior intervention and support
  • Effective communication and human relations skills
  • Knowledge and skills in group facilitation
  • Collaborative problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering individual, small group, and classroom interventions
  • Build positive relationships between students and building staff
  • Collaborate with building administration and staff to implement effective positive behavioral management strategies and de-escalation strategies.
  • Support and facilitate crisis management.
  • Support student success during non-academic timeframes during the day, including lunchroom, recess, transportation and other times.
  • Communicate with parents on Office Discipline Referrals and Bus Referrals and develop plans for success
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Transportation Driver (Special Education)

Paraprofessional, Class II

Job Summary:

Under the direction of licensed special education teacher and/or related services staff, the Special Education Paraprofessional assists one or more students in accomplishing activities of daily living; instrumental activities of daily living, health related functions; redirection and intervention of behavior; and other tasks as are identified within assigned students’ IEPs. Special Education Paraprofessionals may be assigned to work with students who have special healthcare/medical needs, have behavior intervention plans or require other forms of specialized care.  Assists teachers by working with individual students or small groups, and performing related work as assigned.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Teacher and the general direction of the building Principal.

Job Qualification:

Must have a High School Diploma/GED and or College Degree. Or must be able to pass the ParaEducator Assessment upon hire.
