Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Plan, guide, evaluate, and revise strategies, services, and support to improve achievement and school engagement for scholars experiencing behavior and academic challenges including consulting with teachers, staff, administrators, and guardians/caregivers to plan strategies, observing scholars and classrooms to provide input on academic and behavioral strategies, coaching staff in Behavior Support Plan implementation, collaborating with instructional staff to create a structured and supportive classroom environment and ensure goals and objectives outlined by IEPs and Behavior Support Plans are implemented with fidelity, working with Problem Solving Teams to establish effective, efficient processes for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, contributing and modeling evidenced-based strategies for instructional staff, working collaboratively with district and site teams to identify needs, plan and deliver professional learning support for curriculum implementation, seeking and measuring effective, efficient processes that move the system forward; make appropriate and equitable use of services, resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district, school, program or department for which employed; maintain contact and communication with staff, administrators, colleagues, scholars, and guardians/caregivers and work with them in the development, delivery, and assessment of strategies, support, and professional learning; collaborate within and across departments, programs, and sites; participate in district, building, and department leadership activities; provide in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous learning and support when applicable. Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of the district, department, and /or program at the discretion of the supervisor.

District Behavior Specialist Job Description

Minimum qualifications include:

Bachelors Degree Required
Current license in a Special Education area or Licensed School Psychologist , OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*
Five (5) years minimum of experience working with students with behavioral/academic needs

Preferred qualifications include:

BCBA preferred
Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) trainer or willing to be trained as trainer

K-12 Special Education (ABS) Teacher

Position Summary:
Ensure high levels of student learning through engaging, high-quality virtual teaching. Educator is innovative and serves as a facilitator to students’ learning. Educator will collaborate with colleagues, families, and all stakeholders to provide support virtually for students enrolled in the district’s online school, Owatonna Online.  Educator is able to build strong partnerships with adults supporting student learning, and responsive to student needs academically, socially, and emotionally. Educator will be a learner, problem solver, and engage in on-site professional development. Educator will provide IEP services for students and will be responsible for paperwork associated with case management.

Our online teachers can work remotely.  There are a handful of dates that they are required to report (Workshop and staff development days) throughout the year.

 

Qualifications:
Valid MN K-12 Special Education Teaching license is required. ABS license preferred.

An Ideal candidate will have a solid background in equity, technology, and ensuring all students learn at high levels. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Salary:
Based on the candidate’s education and experience per the OEA Master Agreement.

Special Education Teacher

Position Summary:
The Teacher is a stand-alone classification. Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching and direct instructional services or specific learning programs within District curriculum guidelines, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student’s ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Principal. Continuous oversight is exercised over paraprofessionals.

Qualifications:
A valid Special Education teaching license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education (consideration of all Special Education categories). Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities:
A special education teacher will work in one of several special education licensure areas. The duties of each of these positions may vary. The essential functions of these positions include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties. Provide instruction in the core curriculum and special education area(s) for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.
Develop and implement innovative methods for providing instruction to special education students.
Maintain a suitable instructional environment for special education students according to their needs; ensure that equipment is modified, and materials adapted as necessary.
Participate with other special education staff as appropriate to evaluate the special education needs of a student and to develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to meet the student’s needs; implement these plans in accordance with special education state and federal legal requirements and district practice.
Maintain student records and ensure that they are in compliance with due process requirements.
Support the Minnesota Learning Standards; implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program to which assigned.
Evaluate special education student performance in accordance with the system used by the school and/or District; promote student achievement; ensure that progress is being made toward IEP goals and objectives; make related reports to parents, the principal, and/or Special Education administration as prescribed or authorized.
Maintain contact and communications with parents of special education students, work with them in the academic development of the student, meet the objectives of the IEP or IFSP, and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Perform classroom management duties; enforce rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students when necessary.
Provide indirect services to special education students in the special education category for which employed.
Develop and present in-service training relating to disabilities and the educational needs of students in the special education category for which employed.
Continue to seek professional growth and development in the curriculum area(s) for which employed; attend professional development required by the District.
Contribute to the District’s Strong Schools, and Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Payroll Manager/Accountant

Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional or Associate’s degree in business, finance or closely related field including advanced training in payroll accounting and/or at least 5 years’ experience in payroll administration with a scope and content similar to this position. (Experience in a public school district is highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of applicable and payroll-related tax laws, retirement legislation, TSA 403(b) regulations, child support rules, leaves and garnishments and other regulations that require compliance by the District in its payroll administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to effect consistent accuracy, reliability and confidentiality in all aspects of payroll administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to development and maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the District’s payroll administration systems, subsystems and all applicable guidelines and required protocols as established.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage payroll-related databases in a manner that effectively supports information requests from authorized persons and consistently meets their respective requests as expected.

Salary Range: $74,369 – $82,633 (based on education and experience)

Speech and Language Pathologist
