Job Description:  Literacy Coach – at Middle School.  A literacy coach builds the capacity of Tier 1 (core) classroom teachers to close the literacy achievement gap by supporting teachers’ capacity to implement best practice instruction, increasing student engagement and improving student academic achievement.

This support will take place in a variety of ways:

1. Job Embedded Coaching and Professional Development.
Effective literacy coaches spend 80% of their time working directly with teachers to enhance teacher practice and improve student learning through coaching on evidence-based practices. They make effective use of their time by using a multi-faceted approach to coaching to carefully determine what types of coaching can be done effectively with large groups, small groups and individual teachers.

2. Instructional Literacy Leadership.
Effective literacy coaches are integral members of literacy leadership teams at the school and/or district level. Literacy coaches serve as literacy leaders within their schools by working with administrators and other teachers to establish a school-wide literacy vision, aligning instruction to state academic standards, analyzing data and helping teachers use the data to make decisions and developing assessments.

3. Collaboration.
The instructional coach teams with administrators, other coaches, the Family Literacy Specialist, and classroom teachers in a collaborative, reflective relationship to enhance instructional capacity and maximize student learning. On occasion, other teachers or specialists (like interventionists) may be included in professional learning teams, but the coach’s primary role is to support classroom teachers delivering core instruction using evidence-based practices. Coaching provides seamless teacher support from the learning of new content and practices through the implementation process.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUse a variety of strategies to establish rapport and trust with coaches
Provide comprehensive literacy coaching in evidence-based practices through action planning, co-planning, observing, modeling, and co-teaching that is differentiated to meet professional learning needs and non-evaluative
Apply principles of adult learning theory when working teachers
Provide grade level/team level professional development on evidence-based practices
Reflect on coaching practices and engage in continuous improvement to meet the diverse needs of teachers
Serve as a literacy leader on leadership team and school committees that focus on literacy and student achievement
Advocate for equity by collaborating with all stakeholders to identify the instructional practices that will help teachers meet the needs of all learners, especially underserved students
Fulfill all MDE CLSD requirements

School/Community Relations Director

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent, the School/Community Relations Director translates system goals and objectives into a systematic two-way public relations program. Duties include: directing the design and delivery of a comprehensive communications program; assigning staffing; allocating financial resources required for successful program implementation; providing communications counsel and support to system leaders, including the school board; directing the media relations program; hiring and supervising community relations staff; directing the district’s enrollment marketing efforts; and ensuring compliance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act regarding requests for public data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Translate system goals and objectives into a systematic two-way communications program.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities that support the organization’s strategic direction and strengthen the reputation of the school district and its leadership. Key areas of work include internal (staff) and external (families/community) communications, crisis communications, communications counsel, school board communications, website management, referendum communications, Realtor relations, enrollment marketing, media relations, district social media, and school news reporting.
  • Allocate financial resources to support communications program goals.
  • Plan and execute continuous improvement processes.
  • Lead strategic plan priority work in area(s) assigned by the superintendent.

Provide communications counsel and support to system leaders, including the school board.

  • Lead crisis communications response.
  • Create key messages and determine communication strategies for critical issues affecting individual schools and/or the district.
  • Provide communications guidance and/or support (including writing, editing and coaching) to all areas of the organization.
  • Recommend and implement a coordinated response to email messages and other communications received by school board members; work with individual board members, as needed.
  • Provide direct support to the superintendent for communication needs such as presentations, memos, videos, and districtwide communications.
  • Forecast challenges and emerging issues that could have a negative impact on the organization.

Direct a proactive media relations program that supports the system’s mission and strategic objectives.

  • Provide authoritative organizational response to media inquiries; determine appropriate spokespersons for media requests.
  • Establish mutually beneficial relationships with local media.

Lead and direct the community relations and publications teams to ensure effectiveness of the system’s community relations program and publications services.

  • Plan, schedule and direct the work of others; delegate tasks and authority appropriately; establish procedures to guide departmental work; monitor projects to meet deadlines.
  • Supervise direct reports; provide formative feedback and timely performance evaluations.

Direct the development and implementation of a strategic enrollment marketing plan.

  • Oversee development and implementation of the plan.
  • Establish marketing priorities and allocate resources.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of marketing activities.
  • Position the school system as the district of choice.

Ensure compliance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) regarding requests for public data.

  • Develop, communicate, and update guidance for making requests for public data.
  • Communicate with requestors to acknowledge and, if necessary, clarify their request; estimate reimbursable charges and response time frames.
  • Ensure that all responsive data is gathered, compiled, redacted as necessary, and provided to the requestor in accordance with the requirements of the MGDPA.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST- LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE

Cleaner (Part-Time) – Multiple Positions

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of Part-Time Cleaner.  Currently, we have positions available at Lincoln Center, SSP Ed Center and Secondary Building, effective March 1, 2021.  The hours for this position depend on the building, but are typically 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM (4 hours per day); student-contact days.

Job Summary
This position cleans and maintains designated areas of building to ensure a clean, pleasant and safe environment for employees, students, and the general public.

Job Functions

Vacuum, mop and sweep designated areas of building.
Collect and remove all trash, shredding and recycling in assigned areas.
Clean restrooms and locker rooms as assigned.
Clean windows, doors and mirrors in entry ways and other areas as assigned.
Clean carpets, stairways and floors as assigned.
Dust furniture and equipment.
Clean and disinfect cafeteria tables, counter tops and conference room tables
Report any issues with equipment or materials to supervisor.
Lock up building or designated area as require.
Move furniture, set up for events as needed.
Follow district cleaning procedures and standard safety procedures, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Substitute for building engineer as needed.
Other duties as assigned

Academic Specialist

Summary of Job Duties:  The Academic Specialist will work with students in their academic classes at Faribault High School.  The primary purpose of the Academic Specialist is to improve the academic achievement of students through interventions and check-ins.  Days will be spent working with students in our study halls, media center, or virtually.  This person will be expected to work with families of students and be able to reach out to our Distance Learning students and families.
