The Principal’s Duties and Responsibilities will be to:

Hire and retain exceptional teachers and staff.

Evaluate teachers in the areas of purposeful lesson planning, engaging instruction, and effective student management with an equity and growth mindset

Lead curriculum design efforts and ensure appropriate scope and sequence

Analyze and evaluate measures of a variety of student assessments and overall academic school progress

Ensure positive student climate and discipline

Maintain accurate files & documentation and follow consistent policies/procedures for regular and special education

Monitor and meet state and federal reporting and compliance requirements as required by law

Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to ensure that operations, practices, and expectations align with the schools mission and vision

Other duties include, but are not limited to, creating class schedules, providing leadership for school wide committees and programs, plan staff development, facilitate school-wide events, and oversee school safety and school culture

 

Qualifications and Skills

Promote the mission, vision, and values of STRIDE Academy

 

Have or be in the process of obtaining a Minnesota Principal’s License (k-12)

 

Have experience observing and coaching teachers and working with elementary and middle level students

Be familiar with Personalized and Social Emotional Learning

Demonstrate strong and efficient planning, organizational, and communication skills

Manage personnel in a manner that is motivational, ethical, and legal

Manage the school’s Federal Title Programs

Be confident, collaborative and decisive when problem-solving while maintaining a focus on student success

Show a capacity for being a supportive, reflective, responsible, and enthusiastic leader

Possess a commitment to promote and support a broad and diverse educational community

Communicate clearly and effectively with staff, parents, students, and all stakeholders

Understand the purpose and use of assessments and its role in informing curriculum and instruction decisions.

Education and Experience

Essential FunctionsDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences; integrates subject area content and technology; performs co-teaching with primary classroom teachers.

Physical Requirements

Director of Teaching and Learning

A full-time assignment as Director of Teaching and Learning is available with Mankato Area Public Schools beginning with the 2020-21 school year.

The Director provides leadership in the implementation of the district strategic roadmap and success system for continuous improvement; provides collaborative leadership in implementation of RTI; provides guidance and direction in the design and delivery of educational programs; supervises and evaluates principals and other administrators as assigned, counselors, district mentors, and program coordinators in Title I, ELL, Talent Development, Professional Development, Literacy, Assessment, Career and Technical Education and approves/oversees respective budgets; responsible for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) improvement planning and implementation; oversees all curricular processes.

Requires Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or other related field, and MN licensure as K-12 teacher. Administrative licensure (principal and/or superintendent) preferred.
