Major Responsibilities: Work as an Arabic Teacher in Columbia Heights Public Schools. Performs difficult professional work teaching in a secondary school instructional program and class environment favorable to learning; teaching Arabic subject matter; teaching special needs students; motivating students to achieve maximum potential, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.

Qualifications:

Appropriately licensed in Arabic Language Education by MDE.
Bachelor’s degree in in teaching, or related field and moderate experience working with children, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Fluent in the Arabic Language both orally and in writing.
Experience working within a multi-cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Minnesota.
Position is a 1.0 FTE (benefit eligible).

Position begins August 2019.

supervision of the Principal.

Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  The

Essential Functions
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for students
Translates lesson plans into effective learning experiences; integrates subject area content and technology.
Adapts teaching materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
Instructs students in specialization and subject matter areas specified in state law and administrative regulations and
District procedures.
Instructs various levels of Arabic and teaches culture and history of the language.
Instructs using the American Council on Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) standards.
Develops standards for critical analysis through group discussions.
Assesses and evaluates student’s needs; provides instruction in individual or group sessions; acts as a mentor to
students; establishes and maintains behavior standards.
Formulates and implements behavior modification programs for students.
Administers standardized assessments in accordance with established procedures.
Encourages students to think independently along with developing and expressing original ideas.
Evaluates students’ progress; maintains records; prepares progress reports.
Communicates with students, counselors and parents through conferences and other means.
Maintains professional licensing and familiarity through in-service education and self-selected professional books and
instructional materials.
Organizes classroom and distributes materials.
Participates in curriculum development and programs including vertical alignment of K-12 Arabic, faculty
committees and student activity sponsorship as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of district practices and procedures; thorough knowledge
of principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of district rules, regulations and procedures;
ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written
reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in in teaching, or related field and moderate experience working with children, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and speaking or
hearing, frequently requires walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and
occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has
standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the
spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is
required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral
communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer
data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to
outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal
protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds
maintenance, heavy traffic).

Special Requirements
Minnesota Teaching License.

Physical Education – Elementary

Jacobson in Rush City (K-6) is looking for a 1.0 FTE physical education teacher to begin August 26, 2019.  The licensed physical education teacher will be a self starter who has a strong background in fitness and team sports. This position requires programming for all students K-6. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate that can promote healthy lifestyles with our students. Elementary Music Teacher

Special Education Facilitator

Full-time Special Education Facilitator position is available at the Forest Lake Area Senior High School beginning the 2019-20 fiscal year.

 

Job duties include, but not limited to:

Schedule and manage HS paraprofessional services
Assist with the creation of the Master Schedule for special education
Coordinate the classified para evaluations – annually
Provide training and meetings to paraprofessional staff on an on-going basis
Coordinate due process compliance for annual IEPs and ERs
Attend IEP meetings as admin designee (when designated)
Serve as a liaison between administration/deans/special education coordinator and staff
Accommodation Facilitator – ensuing accommodations are distributed to teaching staff and support the needs for AP, MCA, ACT, etc
Special Education Coach – supporting special education instruction
