Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented and motivated Licensed Physical Therapist to work with students in the Education District. The Education District is looking for a Physical Therapist to fulfill a part-time or full-time position between November 19, 2018 to Febraury 3, 2019. This position would serve students within the folllowing school districts: La Crescent-Hokah, Caledonia, Spring Grove, Mabel-Canton, and Houston.
Physical Therapist
Director of Finance and Operations
Description: Leads and manages the district programs for finance, accounting, purchasing, and operations.
Job Summary:
Assumes responsibility for budget development, control and long-range financial planning.
Projects district revenue and submits the district tax levy to the Board for approval and to the county and MDE.
Manages the district debt including the OPEB Trust Fund.
Develops and administers a program for purchasing contract service, supplies and equipment.
Assists in the development of a facility and maintenance program.
Supervises facility planning, project development and construction projects.
Supervises the Director of Buildings and Grounds, the district custodial staff and the district maintenance program.
Oversees the transportation, building and grounds, technology, and food service program operations.
Manages and oversees the daily operations and personnel of the Enrollment Office and Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS).
Supervises the district business office staff including payroll, benefits, accounting, purchasing and accounts receivable.
Establishes and supervises a program of accounting and reporting for the financial affairs of the school district.
Manages the real estate and insurance programs including;
Self-funded health care
Dental
Long term disability
Group life insurance
Worker’s Compensation
Serves on various district committees
Recommend policies, regulations and administrative procedures.
Responsible for the district’s annual audit.
Consults with the superintendent and other personnel on questions relating to the district’s business affairs.
Prepares and submits to the school board, reports and other documents as required.
Completes district enrollment projections.
Works with the Superintendent on legislative matters for the district.
Serves on professional organizations committees as a district representative.
Serve on the Superintendent’s Cabinet, participate in Administrative Team meetings, and attend School Board meetings as a resource to the School Board.
Negotiates and monitors contractual and employment agreements between the district and outside parties.
Analyzes cash flow requirements, needs and obligations; recommends or makes investment selections.
Oversees and recommends risk management decisions including property and liability insurance.
Assumes other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent.
Accountant
POSITION: ACCOUNTANT – Full-Time Position; 52 weeks per year
JOB DESCRIPTION: Assist the business manager with all aspects of Federal and State funding and allocations, food service account collections and audit preparation throughout the year and at year-end. Prepare the following monthly reconciliations for the business manager to review: bank/cash, credit card receipts, student activity bank account, payroll liability account, food service deposits, online payments/receipts and other areas as needed. Maintain retiree benefit records, billing and bank drafts.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· 4 Year Accounting Degree Required with 5+ years’ experience in general accounting; MN School District accounting a plus
· Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
· Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
· Using and applying accounting and financial software and programs in the preparation and maintenance of accounting records
· Good oral and written communications
· Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, department heads, and community members.
· Using and operating office equipment and computers and applying office productivity software such as word processing, Adobe Pro, database or customized software utilized by the department. Advanced knowledge of Excel is a plus
· Performing work assignments requiring attention to detail, precision and accuracy and in accordance with set deadlines under minimal direction and supervision
· Experience with computerized ledger systems
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills and have the ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
