Provide the day-to-day coordination of the meal service programs in accordance with USDA Child Nutrition Program guidelines for Lincoln Elementary School.  Daily duties include food production, meal service, clean-up, and maintenance of records and schedules associated with the site meal programs and district special function activities.  Ensure proper sanitation, safety procedures, and regulations are in place and followed (HACCP).  Organize and coordinate all food and supply orders for site kitchen, and submit using a computerized food service management system.  Operate computerized point-of-sale program for meal service.  Participate in Nutrition Services professional development activities as scheduled.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Minnesota Food Manager Certification obtained within six months of employment.  Certification with the School Nutrition Association at Level 1 within one year from date of employment and Level 2 Certification within three years of employment.   Previous food service experience required, preferably school food service or other institutional food service operations.  Experience should include managing inventory, ordering, food production, and record keeping.  Supervision, time management, and organization skills required as related to quantity food service operations.  Ability to lead others and communicate effectively.  Basic math skills including computer applications experience and familiarity with computerized food service management information systems required.

Schedule:
~185 days per year / 5 days per week / 7.0 hours per day / 6:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies new and innovative business practices for the purpose of providing effective and efficient fiscal services.
    Develops accounting and finance policies and procedures; directs the preparation and completion of the audit process.
  • Serves as a member of, and collaborates with, cabinet and the superintendent on district financial forecasting, accounting and budget preparation.
  • Provides fiscal counsel to department heads, principals, directors, supervisors, and the school board.
  • Models a culture of customer service that includes proactive and innovative problem solving and prompt incident resolution.
  • Creates and maintains a culture of collaboration and trust between members of the finance department and district staff.
  • Develops relationships between multiple departments that are crucial to the success of the district in terms of business and financial services.
  • Enthusiastically embraces the school district’s equity priority and proactively seeks ways to make financial decision-making aligned with equity goals.
  • Supervises a team of highly-skilled, veteran financial staff who have consistently produced balanced budgets and perfect audit reports.
  • Represents the school district with state, county, and city meetings related to all aspects of school district finance. Provides fiscal reports to the school board and the public.
  • Works collaboratively with the human resources department to effectively negotiate and maintain positive relationships with bargaining units.
  • Provides leadership in planning for growth and/or decline in enrollment and serving needs of our staff and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
