Job Summary: This paraprofessional position assists the ECFE instructors in preparing the adult and children’s classrooms. The classroom assistant responds to children’s and parents needs as they arise in the classroom. *Ready the classroom for learning using the instructor’s daily lesson plan. Maintain an orderly and healthy classroom by performing, cleaning and organizing duties *Prepare materials to be used by the children and/or parents *Welcome parents and children and take attendance *Model appropriate behavior in interactions with children. Assist students and parents with developmentally appropriate activities. *Assist the classroom staff in establishing and maintaining classroom limits and in assessing children’s needs using PBIS. Must be knowledgeable and use positive discipline techniques when dealing with children. *Lead small groups of children in appropriate activities. Clean and set-up the classroom for the next class session. *Attends staff meetings, and participate in some professional development. Contributes to the informal evaluation of the program.
