Outreach Worker
The Richfield Public School District has an opening for a full time bilingual Outreach Worker at the Dual Language School working with students in grades K-5. This position will work closely with the school’s administrative team in meeting the needs of students and families. This position requires a person who has excellent communication skills (oral and written) and is able to develop strong relationships with our Latino families. This person will conduct our Voices United Parent Advocacy classes, must be able to translate educational documents, interpret at meetings and family events. Job responsibilities: *Engage all parents through the provision of support, outreach, and positive calls, with a targeted focus on scholars who are not achieving at grade level. Identification of these students will occur through use of data, and clear and regular engagement with teachers and support staff. *Act as a liaison between school and home for students experiencing academic challenges through classroom visits, regular home visits and frequent home calls. This will be driven through goal planning and clear data tracking. *Collaborate regularly with social worker, school staff and admin to ensure that supports are aligned and services appropriate to student need. *Act as a cultural and linguistically as able to ensure that all families and students receive culturally and linguistically relevant support as able. The special education teacher develops materials and lesson plans, conducts classroom instruction and evaluates and assesses both instructional materials and student performance. The teacher meets with parents, interprets student progress and informs parents/guardians about student strengths, weaknesses and/or progress. Additionally, the special education teacher facilitates Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Evaluation Summary Report (ESR) meetings and completes special education paperwork as determined by state and local due process requirements.
