Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of school counseling theories and practices. * Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills. * Strong technology skills that support student success and data driven programming. * Ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities: The essential functions include but are not limited to the following fundamental duties: * Design, deliver, evaluate, and revise a comprehensive school counseling curriculum that supports students’ developmental needs in personal/social and academic domains for students in grades 9-12 at the school. * Identify and facilitate individual and small group counseling interventions to support developmental, preventative, and remedial needs of students in the school. * Participate in school based multidisciplinary team meetings that support student achievement and identify individual student intervention needs (Examples may include: Child Study, 504, Attendance, etc.). * Assist students with developing and attaining academic goals and plans. This may include academic and behavioral improvement plans, intervention plans, registration and placement, scheduling, test administration, transcript/credit evaluation, and working with prospective students and foreign exchange students, etc. * Participate in school decision making and activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school. * Accurately and appropriately utilize and interpret student data, as well as assist others to do so. * Consult and collaborate effectively with families, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources to address student needs. * Adhere to ethical and legal standards and best practices established by local, state and national counselor associations and the school.
Special Education Paraprofessional (1.0 FTE)
Responsibilities – Is familiar with the special education needs of each student as in their IEP. – Is familiar with the goals and objectives of each student as in their IEP. – Keeps all student information strictly confidential and communicates with appropriate personnel. – Assists in implementation of student’s behavior plans – Assists in implementation of IEP accommodations. – Monitors students and provides test accommodations in the testing room. – Assists individual or small groups of special education students in practicing or reviewing previously learned techniques or strategies – Enforces school rules and communicates with appropriate personnel. – Participates in or provides input for meetings when requested. – Follow all district procedures and policies for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for students and staff. – Photocopies and prepares materials as assigned. – Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts. – Responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
Special Education/Work Experience Teacher (2291)
Saints Academy is a small communitybased alternative program for students in grades 9-12 who, for a variety of reasons,are not being successful in the traditional high school setting.The program is located at the Crossroads School & Vocational Center (CSVC) – Provide direct special education services for students who have disabilities – Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers regarding students on IEPs. – Provide work direction and support to the assigned Educational Assistants. – Perform educational assessments of students as required. – Develop, write and implement IEPs for assigned caseload. – Ensure that due process requirements are being followed. – Contact employers and develop community-based opportunities for students to job shadow, have short-term exploratory job placements and longer-term work experiences. – Match students needs, skills and interests with available job placement opportunities. – Meet regularly with job site supervisors to insure that placement is appropriate for all involved and problem solve as needed. – Provide necessary training to students prior to placement, and ongoing support once placed at a work experience site. – Coordinate the delivery of work experience services with IEP Managers and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students.
SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST–FOLEY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Foley Public Schools is taking applications for a 1.0 FTE Speech/Language Pathologist. This is a full-time teaching position beginning with the 2016-17 school year. This position will work with students in grades 6-12. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team environment and an ability to build relationship with both students and staff. Preference will be given to candidates with experience. Candidates must possess or be able to demonstrate ability to obtain appropriate licensure prior to the beginning of the 2016-17 school year. Coaching and/or Advisor positions are also available but are not a requirement for this position. Foley Public Schools is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Biology teaching position available beginning with the 2016-17 school year. Courses taught may vary depending on the strengths of the instructor but will include 10th grade Biology and possibly an elective Human Biology course.
