Digital Learning Coach

Job Summary: The Digital Learning Coach will assist in the implementation of 21st century teaching skills, curriculum development and the integration of technology into the classroom. The focus of the Digital Learning Coach is to increase the capacity of teachers to use technology and to develop curriculum that effectively integrates the use of technology in the teaching and learning process. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teacher Classroom/Lesson Support -Support teachers across the district as they change the way that students learn through the use of technology best practices in the classroom, focusing on such elements as active engagement, inquiry, information mining, collaboration, creation and other 21st Century Skills -Plan with teachers to develop lessons, projects, or other ways to infuse technology into classrooms. -Observe use of technology in the district to gain insight on how technology is being used in classroom. -Plan and work with grade level/department PLC meetings to check in, advise, and collaborate with teachers on the use of instructional technology Professional Development & Learning -Plan and facilitate professional development for infusing technology into the classroom -District and building levels -Inservice days, summer training, new teacher week -Targeted trainings to support district implementation -Collaborate with Technology Department to provide documentation for teachers, students, and parents learning how to use instructional/classroom technologies -Collaborate with Teaching & Learning to provide support for professional development District Technology Planning and Advising -Meet regularly with the Director of Instructional Technology to assist with the implementation of District strategic direction goals related to current and future technology implementation -Collaborate with Teaching & Learning to advise teams in the articulation cycle regarding technology initiatives and opportunities -Assist and support implementation of the District instructional model -Advocate for student leadership opportunities with technology Professional Expertise -Stay up-to-date on emerging educational technologies in order to stay on the forefront of using technology for increasing student learning -Attend workshops and conferences such as TIES and ISTE depending on need as identified by the Director of Instructional Technology and the DLC team -Develop proposals to facilitate sessions at regional and national conferences -Collaborate, learn, and plan with Instructional Coaches Communication -Monitor and Moderate G+ communities for schools and special interest groups (such K-1 Collaboration in Shakopee Schools) -Monitor and post to Twitter, Pinterest, DLC blog, and other social media and communication sites -Respond to teacher requests relating to integrating technology and help move questions to the helpdesk system when technical solutions are required -Maintain the Technology Tools website to ensure that content is up-to-date
