Position Description and Function

 

The Teacher Development Team (under the umbrella of Talent Development & Management within the Human Resources Department) aims to ensure all students are served by effective, diverse, equitable and resilient educators.  To this end, the Teacher DevelopmentTeam supports the work of teacher development and Q Comp, including:

ProPay
Teacher leadership
Principles of adult learning and professional development facilitation
Observations, coaching, and the Standards of Effective Instruction (SOEI)
Responsibilities

Collaborate with the other TOSAs and DPFs on the Teacher Development Team to oversee the implementation of Teacher Development and Q Comp, which includes:

Lead the implementation of the MPS ProPay program, including training and guidance for ProPay instructors and participants
Collaborate with the Professional Development Coordinators to support the administration of ProPay
Support best practices and principles of adult learning
Work collaboratively with other members of the Teacher Development Team, PAR Mentors, and other district teams as needed to support the creation and implementation of district-wide Professional Development for licensed educators, including:
Training opportunities that support New Teacher Orientation (NTO) and the MPS Achievement of Tenure (AofT)
Professional development for educators who serve in site-based Q Comp leadership roles
Job-embedded professional development for teachers and related services at sites in collaboration with the Academic PD Team, including training for teacher leaders who support job-embedded professional development at sites
Professional development of new SOEI primary observers (principals) and secondary observers (teachers) by planning and facilitating SOEI certification training sessions
In collaboration with others on the Teacher Development Team, support projects and initiatives aimed to increase teacher retention
Other duties as assigned
Reports To: The Manager of Teacher Development & Q Comp

 

Qualifications:

Valid Minnesota teaching license
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.  Tenured in MPS preferred
Extensive knowledge of best practices for adult learning
Demonstrated success in working both independently and collaboratively on a team
Demonstrated success in developing and leading/facilitating professional development for adults
Experience in teacher leader position preferred, such as master teacher, pre-service supervisor, mentor teacher or other professional development positions
Demonstrated success in working with students and staff of racially diverse backgrounds, applying differentiated learning strategies, and improving student achievement in the classroom preferred
Salary:

Teacher Salary Schedule (43 weeks) with opportunities for extended and/or flex time to support summer planning and summer professional development.

Job summary: Assist the building Library Media Specialist in the management and supervision of non-instructional activities in the Media Center. Includes lunch and recess.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

Check media materials and equipment in and out of the Media Center.
Manage check in and return of media materials and equipment to their proper location.
Inputs/deletes data on media materials, equipment, and student information.
Runs overdue and other reports of materials and equipment.

Minimum qualifications include:

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience in special education, preferably a minimum of five years; demonstrated leadership experience with adults.
Valid Minnesota special education license in appropriate field or valid license in a related service area, MN teaching license in appropriate field, OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 2 License.*
