Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent and Activities Director, Community Education/Associate Activities Director is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, fiscal control and operation of Community Education programs and its staff in the areas of adult, youth enrichment programming and summer recreation. There are no Early Childhood Education responsibilities as part of this position.
Under the direction of the Activities Director is responsible for managing, planning and supervising co-curricular and extra-curricular programs for grades 6-8.
Essential Functions:
Serves under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools to:Manage, supervise and direct all community education program coordinators, supervisors and department administrative support staff.
Plan, develop and monitor the fiscal operations and budgets of Community Education.
Oversee and coordinate district facility use and scheduling for all district and non-district events and activities.
Plan, promote and coordinate the advertising, public relations, and promotional efforts to promote department programs and services through the publication of brochures, news releases, speaking engagements, or advertising in the local new media.
Provide leadership in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of community education programs and services.
Administer joint power agreements to better utilize community resources and provide recreation and community programs.
Attend professional meetings to represent the District and Community Education at various local, state and regional meetings.
Serves under the general supervision of the Activities Director to:Organize and supervise all activities, practices and tournaments for activities in grades 6-8 which includes facilities, transportation, and maintenance arrangements.
Recommend changes to the middle school activities budget as needed. Monitor and authorize purchases for equipment, supplies, official fees and coaches and activities advisors purchasing requests. Evaluate activities programs and collaborate with administration in dealing with fiscal matters involving the addition, deletion and/or elimination of activity programs.
Communicate with various stakeholders including coaches, parents, players and district administration.
Assist in maintaining orderly activities within the building before, during and after school hours.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and education. This is a 12-month position.
