POSITION: Activities Director

DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS:
Coordinates a comprehensive secondary student athletics and activities program. Performs professional and administrative work planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating high school activities and events, managing program development and department finances, overseeing facility and equipment use and care, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the High School Principal. Provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the High School Activities Department.
• Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics and activities in accordance with the MSHSL rules and regulations.
• Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, training, and evaluation of athletic coaches, activity advisors, staff members, athletic workers, activity workers and officials. Confer with high school principal regarding filling activity and athletic staff vacancies.
• Arrange transportation for athletic and activity participants.
• Arrange coverage of all events ie: officials, referees, etc.
• Secure appropriate training services for the appropriate contests and daily training room coverage.
• Supervise and coordinate supervision of home events and ensures coaches/advisors report scores and information timely to the media.
• Determines participation eligibility for students using Minnesota State High School League, District #12 and Northwest Suburban Conference policies and procedures.
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, community groups, district and local media.
• Provide representation at the Minnesota State High School League meetings, and communicate information to activities staff; Provide representation at Region and Conference meetings and perform duties as required by conference affiliation.
• Verifies each participant’s eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each activity.
• Monitor requisitions, and equipment budgets for entire extra-curricular program.
• Submits information regarding coaches’ salaries and hours of service to HR.
• Meets with area boosters regularly as needed. Keeps record of approved fund raisers.
• Compiles and publicizes competition schedules for all sports activities and some competitive academic activities.
• Compiles and presents activity participation numbers as needed.
• Orders equipment and supplies for activities.
• Advises the Superintendent and Principal(s) on all activity related matters.
• Creates, maintains and facilitates departmental budget.
• Coordinate and manage the implementation of school board policy, procedures and centralized scheduling and billing systems for use of indoor and outdoor District facilities outside of the school day and summer in partnership with Community Services.
• Promote a positive image of the Centennial Public School District programs internally as well as to the public at large.
• Arranges all details of home and visiting teams’ needs.
• Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all school staff.
• Serve on building and district committees or initiatives as designated by the Principal or Superintendent.
• Performance of all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
• Oversee Pep Fests and recognition events in conjunction with the Head Principal
• Supervises the PAC and Auditorium Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
• Bachelor’s degree; three or more years of experience in related field.
• Valid Minnesota Administrative credential preferred.
• Master’s degree (emphasis in athletic administration or educational leadership preferred).
• Ability to provide leadership to diverse groups.
• Ability to plan and organize effectively and prioritize workload.
• Ability to plan and supervise, coach, and evaluate the work of others.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, School Board and the school community.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures.
• Knowledge of Minnesota High School League rules and regulations.
• Skills in recruitment, selection, induction and assignment of personnel.
• Skills in maintaining effective discipline.
• Ability to manage fiscal resources.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract, starting on or around July 1, 2022.

REPORTS TO: High School Principal

WAGES:
Salary range is $120,000-$125,000 based on experience and qualifications. This is an individual contract and will have a competitive benefits package including – but not limited to – group insurance coverage, sick leave, personal leave, vacation, holiday pay, 403b contribution, etc.

Physical Education / Health Teacher

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students’ physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students’ understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being; and to motivate students to work towards, physical fitness, hygiene, and good health.

Essential Functions
Develops and administers Physical Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Teaches knowledge of, and develops skills and abilities in, physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports,
Develops students’ concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and appropriate feedback to regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Assists in coordinating extra-curricular activities, including student performances, assembles, and athletic events.
Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within physical education and grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Inspects equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order.
Additional Duties

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License:

Minnesota State Certification as a Physical Education Teacher.
Minnesota State Certification as a Health Teacher
Minnesota State Certification as a DAPE Teacher Preferred.
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Masters Degree preferred.
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

IB-PYP Curriculum Coordinator

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of IB-PYP Coordinator at Kaposia Education Center Elementary School.  This is a 12-month position, 8 hours per day; annual salary up to $98,392 with excellent benefits.

Job Summary

Coordinate implementation and evaluation of IB PYP, including continuous improvement and on-going support for curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure a high quality program is in place for all students to continuously improve their conceptual understandings, skills, and knowledge.

Job Functions

Lead the transformation and continual improvement of elementary curriculum to one that is engaging, relevant, challenging, significant, and concept-based.
Ensure that the PYP is planned, taught and assessed collaboratively including the development of transdisciplinary units of inquiry.
Develop, document, and communicate the Programme of Inquiry and unit planners.
Collaborate with teams of teachers to embed current content standards into the Programme of Inquiry
Work with school staff on the continual implementation of the IB Standards and Practices.
Provide mentoring support for new teachers and staff
Responsibility for gathering evidence and completing documents for programme evaluation.
Meet and work regularly with other district IB Coordinators and the leadership team to implement the continuum of IB programs with fidelity and ensure seamless transitions for students
Assist staff in implementing culturally relevant instructional strategies in order to address the needs of all students
Promote integration of technology as a tool for improving student engagement and achievement
Coordinate developing and maintaining formative and summative assessments in all curricular areas.
Support the implementation and evaluation of new and ongoing programs aimed at expanding learning opportunities for all students.
Assist in the selection and design of instruments and procedures for curricular materials, best practice instructional strategies and assessment tools.
Work with district and building Staff Development committees to identify, organize and offer professional learning opportunities at local, state, regional and national levels.
Maintain a balanced budget working with the district office, including timely payment of all IBO and MNIB fees, and invoice related to supplies and materials.
Participate in the wider IB community, including network meetings, programme communities, blogs, discussion forums, and hosting visitors.
Be familiar with and promote understanding of PYP documents to the community including newsletters, marketing materials, and websites.
Assist in coordinating and developing a district-wide professional development program focused on improving student learning.
