Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates is assisting the St. Francis, Minnesota Area Schools, as it seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as their Superintendent of Schools beginning on July 1, 2022.

St. Francis Area Schools is nestled in the woods and fields of northern Anoka County and southern Isanti County of Minnesota. This 165 square mile oasis of fresh air, clean water and livable space focuses on a quality of life that the residents feel is second to none, yet is a convenient drive from downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul.

The nine municipalities encompassed within the district include the cities of St. Francis, Bethel, East Bethel, Oak Grove, portions of Andover and Nowthen, as well as portions of Athens, Linwood and Stanford townships.

The student enrollment now exceeds 4,500 students in the seven schools of the district and the district employs more than 800 staff members. Students in grades K-5 enjoy a 25:1 student teacher ratio. High school students take advantage of 29 Advanced Placement or college courses. Masters degrees are held by 54% of the staff and 1,075 students participate in the 44 offerings of athletic, fine arts and extracurricular programs.

EL Teacher

Summary of Duties:
Applicants must be able to successfully teach in a “pullout” setting and also be able to be a strong co-teaching partner with a content area teacher.

Required:
Current MN licensure in English as a Second Language.

Job Description: 1.0 FTE EL Teacher – We are looking for someone to work as part of our EL Middle School team to provide differentiated support for our diverse group of English Learners and perform the possible duties outlined below.  This position commences with the 2022-23 school year on August 22, 2022.

Job Duties:

-Teach a self-contained EL language development classes in reading and writing tied to a specific EL curriculum
-Run small group pull out intervention services focused on content vocabulary and comprehension in various content areas such as science and social studies.
-Co-teach at least one hour in math focusing on basic math skills.
-Manage the dual identified EL/SPED caseload

Dean of Students

The primary responsibility of this job is to assist students in improving decision-making and problem solving relating to behaviors that will insure school and personal success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Attendance, Contracts, & Truancy

  • Interpret attendance data and assist students in addressing challenges associated with attendance.
  • Oversee record keeping and communications associated with the student attendance contracts, school’s attendance policies and procedures for students.
  • Coordinate all truancy procedures based on the requirements of a student’s county of residence.
  • Consult and collaborate effectively with families, teachers, administrators, and other educational and community resources to address student issues and needs.

Student Behavior

  • Assist students in identifying proper decorum for a school setting.
  • Implement positive behavioral interventions and strategies to assist students in meeting behavior expectations and resolving conflicts.
  • Implement school policies and procedures regarding student decorum.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant communication and documentation of work with students and does so in a timely manner.
  • Participate in school based multidisciplinary team meetings and events that support student achievement and identify individual student intervention needs (Examples include Child Study, 504, and Attendance).
  • Accurately and appropriately utilize and interpret student data, as well as assist others to do so.
