Primary Function (Purpose of Position): A DeLaSalle High School Physical Science and AP Environmental Science Teacher has a strong background in science education, a deep understanding of high school curriculum standards, and the ability to engage and inspire high school students in the exciting world of science. The physical science teacher will be responsible for creating a positive and challenging learning environment, fostering critical thinking skills, and cultivating a love for science among high school students.

Representative Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development:
- Design and implement effective, engaging, and standards-based science curriculum for high school students.
- Develop lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
2. Classroom Instruction:
- Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons in science.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and inquiry.
- Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with varying academic abilities, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds.
3. Lab Supervision:
- Oversee and facilitate hands-on laboratory activities, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
- Demonstrate and promote proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
4. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Create and administer assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, parents, and administrators.
Use data-driven insights to adjust teaching methods as needed.
5. Technology Integration:
- Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
- Utilize multimedia tools, educational software, and other technology platforms to enrich the science instruction.
6. Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a conductive atmosphere for learning.
7. Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in science education, instructional methods, and technology.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the school’s academic community.
8. Parent and Community Engagement:
- Foster an open communication with parents and guardians through regular updates on student progress, parent-teacher conferences, and other communication channels.
- Participate in school events and engage with the local community to promote science education.
