The Thief River Falls Public Schools District’s main office is located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The school district has an approximate enrollment of 1,900 kindergarten through grade twelve students.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE: The Thief River Falls School Board seeks a superintendent who:

  • Acts with honesty and in an ethical manner with all stakeholders, including the School Board, staff, students, parents, and community
  • Is a “people person” with proven abilities in human relations and communications
  • Develops trust and works collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Is visible and accessible to the School Board, staff, students, parents, and community
  • Works cooperatively with the School Board; provides options and recommendations
  • Promotes business and community involvement in the schools

Previous superintendent experience preferred, but not required.

SALARY/CONTRACT:  The current superintendent’s base salary for the 2021-2022 school year is $144,000. The final salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. The contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute.

PRINCIPAL – NORTHERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The role of the Principal is to provide effective educational leadership of the school, giving direction and supervision to the educational programs and staff, implementing School Board policies and initiatives, and carrying out the directives of the Superintendent of Schools.  Northern Elementary is a K-3 neighborhood school located a few miles north of Bemidji, Minnesota with an enrollment of 328 students.

  • Possesses a strong academic background with experience in curriculum
  • Has experience in implementing educational priorities
  • Is familiar with state and federal education laws
  • Uses curriculum and other resources to improve test scores
  • Is visible and accessible to the School Board, staff, students, parents, and community

Previous superintendent experience preferred, but not required.
