Teacher Educator (K-12 ESL)

The Southeast Service Cooperative Teacher Licensure Program is designed to support candidates seeking an additional license in English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12. In 2022, the Southeast Service Cooperative was selected to receive $2.7 million in funding over five years through the National Professional Development (NPD) Program from the U.S. Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition (Award #T365Z220119). The NPD program provides grants for eligible organizations to design and implement high-quality professional development activities that improve instruction for multilingual learners.

The primary goal of Project MOMENTUM (Micro-Credentialing Options for Minnesota Educators Navigating Transformative Understandings of Multilingualism) is to increase the number of licensed ESL K-12 educators in the state of Minnesota. In order to provide equitable access to high-quality professional learning opportunities, Project MOMENTUM has designed a series of additional licensure courses that will engage educators in learning aligned to PELSB English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12 Standards. We are seeking qualified teacher educators to support our licensure program as teacher educators.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective facilitation, support, and assessment of pre-developed asynchronous course content in accordance with SSC program guidelines.
  • Co-facilitate one virtual, synchronous session per course with other instructor(s).
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and coaching to help candidates meet course objectives and program standards.
  • Review and provide robust feedback on assignments, application activities, and assessments.
  • Evaluate candidates’ performance on defined assessments using established rubrics.
  • Maintain regular and open communication with candidates.
  • Participate in course evaluations and contribute to program improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and course participation.
  • Model professional behavior and promote reflective practice.
  • Attend required virtual meetings and training sessions, including professional development in coaching strategies for adult learners; and training on program requirements and evaluation procedures.
  • Maintaining appropriate technology (i.e. internet access, computer) for the duration of the course contract. Expenses related to technology will not be reimbursed by SSC.
  • A faculty evaluation will take place once a year, within one month of course completion.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a related field of study and at least one of the following: Completed 18 graduate credits in ESL K-12
  • Completed a dissertation or published peer-reviewed research in ESL K-12
  • Completed a state-approved teacher preparation program in ESL K-12 and at least 3-5 years of experience as a teacher of record
  • Equivalent background and expertise of necessary pedagogical and content standard proficiency as demonstrated through previous work experiences and teaching experiences, educator evaluations, and/or national board certification
  • [For Multimodal Language and Literacy Only] Specialized knowledge in the research and teaching of reading (e.g., graduate coursework) and 3 years of teaching experience working with developing readers and teaching reading in the content areas
  • Experience with online teaching and learning platforms
  • Significant experience providing meaningful feedback though asynchronous methods
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Time Commitment: The time commitment for this role will include approximately 10 hours per week for 8 weeks, including required training. Specific dates for each course are listed below. Contracts will include one week before and one week after the start date of each course to ensure sufficient time for onboarding and final grading. Specific course dates are listed below.   • August 18 – September 28: Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Assessment
    Synchronous Meeting Date & Time: Sept.  25th 5:30-7:00
  • September 29 – November 9: Family and Community Engagement
    Synchronous Meeting Date & Time: November 6th 5:30-7:00

This role requires an individual who can work eight hours a day and has experience in office management and student services. Owatonna Online K-12 School Counselor

Position Summary:
Owatonna Online is a program designed to support students within the school with academic, social/emotional, and personal support. The counselor provides ongoing guidance and daily tools for students to help within our systems of intervention and teach needed tools for success leading to college and career readiness. This position will also work collaboratively with the other online counselor to align credit guides for partnership districts and work on scheduling open enrolled students and internal transfer students.

Our online counselor can work remotely. There are a handful of dates that they are required to report (Workshop and staff development days) throughout the year.

Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota K-12 Guidance & Counseling or K-12 School Counselor licensure. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in School Guidance Counseling, or related field and moderate experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Other Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods, and techniques used for assessing sociological and academic needs of individual students; thorough knowledge of working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds; thorough knowledge and training and experience with the developmental levels of students, issues surrounding chemical dependency, abuse, family change, as well as working knowledge of federal and state special education laws and rules. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the areas of academic planning, personal goal setting, family systems/change, and crisis intervention. Thorough skills in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware, and peripheral equipment.  Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; ability to work with and through other school personnel, parents and community agencies; ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.  Must understand and comply with all protocols related to data privacy.  Consistent and reliable attendance.

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) 1.0 FTE – Blooming Prairie Public Schools

ISD #756 is a small rural school district in SE Minnesota. We serve approximately 900 students Pre-K – 12. Director of Finance

Position Summary: The Director of Finance is the Chief Financial Officer for the District and as such is responsible for managing its budgetary and financial affairs, directs all matters related to general business practices, and has overall responsibility for the effective administration of the various business policies and practices approved by the School Board. The Director of Finance shall administer the business affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available.

Position Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field and extensive experience working as a financial manager in the public sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Master’s degree in Business Administration or CPA certification preferred. Demonstrated organizational ability and human resource leadership skills. Expertise in financial management and ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate financial details. An understanding of technology and procedures. The possession of superior leadership skills and an exceptional ability to work with other people in the organization to promote the objectives of the system.  An understanding of school system organization and knowledge of the relationship between business principles and their use in achieving educational objectives.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal contracts, statutes, and documents from the MN Department of Education.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to groups or individuals.  Ability to express complex issues effectively.
