General Music Teacher – Primary Elementary 2026-2027 School Year

ISD 518 and Prairie Elementary are seeking a K-2 primary music teacher beginning the 2026-2027 school year.

Worthington District 518 is a diverse and growing school community with approximately 670 students at Prairie Elementary (K-2).

Position Overview
The chosen candidate (1.0 FTE) will be working with students in grades K-2, providing 30 minute classes while also collaborating with another full-time music specialist in the building. Candidate should have a strong desire to help younger students form a strong foundation in their musical skills and inspire in them a love for music. ISD 518 is committed to providing students with quality music education, offering orchestra, band, and choir beginning in upper elementary.

Primary Responsibilities
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to all assigned music educational teacher duties and responsibilities, which will include: the implementation of music curriculum, communicating with parents, facilitating a love for music, and working collaboratively with music colleagues across all buildings in the district. We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with young elementary students.

Qualifications
Current Minnesota State Licensure in Elementary Music Education required. Position requires someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated about teaching young students and working with staff, and has the ability to be a flexible team member. Candidate must have strong communication skills, and value working in partnership with parents and other staff members to provide a professional learning community focused on improving student learning.

Licensing Requirements
Valid Minnesota Teaching License in K-12 Vocal and Classroom Music, or eligibility, required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Pipestone Area School District #2689 is seeking a Vocal/Choir and Classroom Music Teacher. This includes teaching appropriate standards-based content, contributing to a team-based approach, embracing a student-centered approach, and participating in staff professional development sessions and other meetings. Pedagogically, best practices are encouraged and innovation expected. The vocal music teacher will lead and direct a program that includes school and MSHSL performances.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Hold or be eligible to obtain a Minnesota teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement

·         Possess a high level of organizational and communication skills

·         Knowledgeable computer user; familiarity with Student Information Systems

·         Solid classroom management skills based on current research practices

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Deliver high quality standards-based lessons to students for classroom music and choir.

·         Participate in mentoring and instructional coaching programs, align and deepen curriculum, and improve pedagogy.

·         Practice and carry out rules and procedures as defined by the Pipestone Area School District.

·         Participate in staff in-service, staff meetings, department work, committee work, parent conference nights, etc.

·         Support the Principal with supervision of students.

·         Communicate in a positive way to develop rapport with learners and treat them with respect.

·         Demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission and vision as well as the Pipestone Area Schools Portrait of a Graduate.

SUPERVISION:
Teachers report to the building principal.

Special Education ABS, SLD and/or EBD Teacher at Jefferson Elementary School.  This position commences on approximately 8/24/26 with the start of the 26-27 school year.

Qualifications:   
Experience working with elementary aged students with academic and behavior challenges; knowledge of due process forms and procedures required; knowledge of MN EBD and SLD criteria and the evaluation process including Functional Behavior Assessments; understanding the use of Positive Behavior Supports; knowledge of how to write a Behavior Intervention Plan; ability to work with a team; training or willingness to be trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); and excellent oral and written communication skills.  Highly qualified in Math, Reading and English preferred.  All candidates will be considered.
