Job Title: Director of Communications and Community Outreach – Schools for Equity in Education (SEE)

Summary of Job Duties:  The Director of Communications and Community Outreach for Schools for Equity in Education (SEE) provides communications and community liaison services to support SEE’s works to assure that all public school children have an equal access to high quality education regardless of where they live in Minnesota. The Director educates and empowers superintendents, school board members, school staff, and community advocates in SEE member districts to engage in the legislative process.

Essential Functions of the Director of Communications and Community Outreach include the following:
The Director develops and oversees the SEE days at the Capitol, SEE website, weekly legislative updates during the legislative session, and membership meetings. As SEE is a small organization, the Director steps in as necessary to assure that SEE runs smoothly.

Legislative
-Assist the legislative committee to annually craft the SEE legislative platform
-Monitor education legislative committee meetings virtually through the Minnesota legislative website or in person at the State Capitol complex
-Write and email weekly legislative updates on Fridays during the legislative session.
-Email notifications of SEE Director’s Blog posts to the subscriber list
-Organize and host 10 SEE days at the Capitol annually

Prepare and distribute the schedule to members
Make appointments with legislators through their assistants
Prepare literature and signage for the day
Meet and escort the attendees at the State Capitol to the meetings with their legislators

Website and Communications
-Create, update, email, and post communications and data reports to support the advocacy of members and education advocates on SEE issues. Includes, but not limited to, the following website pagesAnnually update data analysis web pages Comparison data page – annually prepare and post seven charts, requiring one chart for each member district (approximately 55)
Revenue trends page – annually prepare and post approximately 25 additional spreadsheets/documents
Update legislative information web pages SEE education priorities – annually
Legislative Updates and SEE Director’s Blog – continuously through the legislative session
Education legislation information and schedules – continuously through the legislative session
Key legislators – annually
Regularly update administrative pages like calendars
Continuously update news web page
Annually update the business partners’ page and links
Monitor and periodically update additional other pages of the website as needed
-Assist members with questions and resource needs
-Expand communications to social media

Administrative
-Support the executive director as needed
-Organize all SEE meetings: 5 – 6 general membership, 15 regional, 4 executive board, 3 – 5 legislative, and 1 – 3 business partners’ meetings per year. Organize other miscellaneous meetings as necessary.
-Schedule and reserve locations and timesWork with the hotel for general membership meetings
Work with restaurants and school districts to schedule regional meetings
Work with MASA to schedule the boardroom for the executive board and legislative committee meetings.
-Set up guest speakers for general membership meetings (the executive director determines speakers)
-Manage registration
-Prepare and distribute meeting documents and other information
-Attend meetings to manage the details
-Manage annual membership invoices
-Manage the business partners programWork with business partnership subcommittee to annually update the program
Email application flier to hundreds of businesses
Organize the business partners’ information for the website
Schedule and manage the business partners’ participation at general membership meetings
-Manage members, legislators, and email databases
-Take leadership to assure the organization runs smoothly

Community Outreach
-Maintain a school funding and advocate presentation
-Travel to SEE districts upon request to provide the school finance and advocacy presentation to staff, school boards, and key community groups
-Expand the SEE advocacy network database through SEE Capitol visits and presentations. Explore other ways to expand the database

Speech Language Pathologist (2022-2023 School Year)

The Speech Language Pathologist performs professional work assessing and delivering instructional and clinical services to individual and small groups of students with speech and language impairments, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in speech language pathology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Minnesota licensure in speech language pathology; Certificate of Clinical Competency preferred.

Special Education Teacher (School Year 2022-2023)

Valid MN Special Education Teaching license.  Candidate will have a solid background in equity, technology, and ensuring all students learn at high levels. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Special Education Secondary Teacher (School Year 2022-2023)

Position Summary:
This Special Education teacher position is part of Owatonna Public School’s K-12 educational program. The teacher works within a team structure to provide specialized instruction to students with multicategorical disabilities. The team structure includes general education teachers, other special education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administration. The teacher may co-teach within the general education setting or teach individuals or small groups within the special education setting. The teacher plans jointly with the general education teacher to provide the accommodations and modifications necessary in order for the student to access and make progress within the general education curriculum.
