Position Overview:

A Special Education Paraprofessional at Westwood Schools, helping primarily support students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in grades 5-8.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to…

under the supervision of a licensed Special Education staff, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), customized and personalized for students;
having the ability and passion to work with students with disabilities;
working comfortably with students in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings;
working effectively with an interdisciplinary team, while having the ability to work independently;
working with school staff to provide support to students, in collaboration with teachers; and
participating in, and providing information for, team meetings related to student success and next actions.

Hours: After School/Evening/Weekends; 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (hours vary by scheduled event)

This position is responsible for customer service, building security and monitoring during out of school hours.  This position requires a person with strong customer service and communication skills, is technology savvy, is self-directed and a team player, is culturally aware, and responsible.   Other duties include, but are not limited to, preparing for rentals and use of facility such as meetings, athletic practices, tournaments and other special events – other duties may be assigned by administrator/supervisor.

The Building Supervisor must be reliable and flexible with work schedule.

Program Information:

A 1.0 FTE Speech and Language Pathologist position working at Centerview Elementary School with students in grades K-4.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will provide excellent instruction and case management skills to students with speech/language and other types of disabilities.  This includes:

providing direct instruction to students;
working collaboratively with school staff and family homes, while managing all aspects of due process procedures and mandates;
communicating with parents to provide regular updates on student successes and challenges;
collaborating with principals, special education coordinator and staff, and professional learning communities, to ensure student needs are being met; and
maintaining student records of services provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance;

Qualifications: Valid State of Minnesota License in 5-8 Social Studies.
Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills: Must be fluent in Spanish, 5-8 or 5-12 Social Studies License.  Teach 7th and 8th grade in Spanish Immersion Program see attachment

Chaska Middle School West is a 6-8th grade learning environment with about 800 learners. We have a growing population of diverse learners and a comprehensive array of programs and experiences for students. Preferred candidates will have experience working in diverse education settings and/or experience working towards equitable student outcomes in education.

Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).
