Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of part-time Physical Education Teacher (.2 FTE) at our Community Learning Center for the 2021-22 school year.  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.  Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teacher’s Collectively Bargained Agreement.

Job Summary
Develop the student’s fullest acquisition of knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes.

Job Functions

Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.  Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Deliver the district’s written, taught and assessed curriculum.
Maintain knowledge and skills with IB Program changes and updates.
Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress, and to determine priorities for their children’s social, emotional and academic growth.
Partner with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
Support the district’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress.
Administer standardized, formative and state mandated assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.

Special Education Teacher

MN New Country School (MNCS) (Kindergarten-12th Grade Public Charter School) – Henderson, MN is located in Sibley County and currently enrolls approximately 220 students.  MN New Country School offers experiential learning in a teacher led, project-based learning environment.  Learning opportunities at MNCS emphasize exploring the world through project-based learning.

The ideal candidate will join a team of special education teachers, on-site school social worker and counselor, a special education administrative assistant to facilitate all due process paperwork, and highly involved related providers such as the school psychologist and occupational therapist

The Special Education teacher needed for this position will be licensed in a at least two areas (EDB and LD) or as an Academic Behavior Strategist and will provide specialized instruction for students with mild to moderate disabilities (LD, OHD, ASD, or EBD).

Between the two positions, candidates with a specialty in reading instruction and positive behavior management are encouraged to apply.

The ideal applicant will have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
. reading, writing, and/or math instruction
. continuous progress monitoring
. organizational skills instruction
. use of assistive software and technology
. IEP writing and conducting evaluations
. creating schedules and managing paraprofessionals
. experience with behavior management
. excellent communication skills for collaboration with general education teachers and providing information to parents

Coordinator – Student Services

Contract per Licensed Coordinator 218 day contract

The Student Services Coordinator plans, supervises and coordinates student services at all grade levels; supervises the collection, storage and release of student records. The Student Services Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Services and works with district administrators, principals, teachers, and personnel of departments.

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:

  • Supervise staff in Student Services positions in coordination with building principals.
  • Be actively engaged in the equity work of the district.
  • Supervise the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of program improvement in all areas of student services.
  • Establish and maintain good public relations through participation and leadership in parent advisory groups.
  • Manage resources effectively to further the mission of the district.
  • Design and support Professional Learning for Student Services staff.
  • Assume leadership for and engage in on-going collaboration to improve student learning.
  • Engage in effective communication and consultation with members of the organization and community.
  • Provide leadership for systemic change, priority results and specific Special Education programs.
