Aquatics Director

Aquatics Director

December 18, 2020 by Minnetonka Public Schools

ABOUT MINNETONKA AQUATICS
Our aquatics program is an energetic collaboration serving the entire community with top-notch facilities and a superb instructional staff. The Minnetonka Swim Club is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country, and our High School teams have won more championships than any other school in the state.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Aquatics Director supervises a team of six full-time and 100+ part-time employees, and oversees four major programs: Swim Club, Recreational Swim, Masters Swim, and Lifeguard Services. For the High School competitive teams, the Aquatics Director works closely with the school’s Activities Director and coaching staff to attend to the needs of this critical group. The primary swimming facility is located at Minnetonka Middle School East, and it boasts a competition pool, separate dive tank, ample spectator seating and a state-of-the-art jumbo video scoreboard. Most community swimming programming occurs at the District’s other facility at Minnetonka Middle School West. Lifeguarding efforts extend to ten local beaches during the summer months.

In addition to managing and scheduling the District’s aquatics facilities, the Director is responsible for the creation and execution of an annual budget in excess of $1.2 million. Coordinating effectively with the schools’ maintenance, physical education departments and coaching staff are important duties. Serving as a community leader is a key responsibility, as the Director is called upon to work constructively with the District’s swimming boosters group and other local organizations. The Aquatics Director is the key promoter of our swimming programming throughout the larger community and seeks ways to maximize program revenue.

This is a full-time, year-round position, and compensation is highly competitive. Full health benefits, pension contribution, life and disability insurance and vacation time round out the package. This is a non-union, management level role, and the Aquatics Director reports directly to the Superintendent.
