Assistant Director of Finance

JOB GOAL:  Provides for the coordination and monitoring of the district budget, payroll, accounts payable, software implementations, insurances, requests for proposals and copy center.  Provides leadership in the District Financial Services Office for the proper accounting of expenditures and revenues.  Assists in the preparation of various financial reports for departments, administrators, and school board.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists in annual district budget process and District Annual Meeting presentation.
Prepares non-instructional budgets as needed.
Reviews invoices for proper authorization and coding.
Provides treasury management function.  Maximizes return on the Districts available resources.
Oversees the maintenance of budget monitoring systems and monitors budgets.
Assists financial services office staff by answering questions of a technical nature, problem solving, and assisting with accounting and financial operations that require a higher degree of judgment.
Responsible for annual coordination of inventory of fixed assets and other items.
Oversees the self-funded and health and dental claims processing.
Oversees the duplicating center, reviews and recommends changes to the District-wide lease program.
Prepares, assists, and oversees preparation of year-end closing entries and working papers for annual audit.  Coordinates the annual audit and serves as liaison between independent auditors and District.
Provides instruction and answers questions relating to budget procedures and serves as liaison between Financial Services Office and other departments and sites.  Identifies budget issues, provides alternative solutions, and resolves problems.
Implements financial software to improve reporting and gain efficiencies.
Researches and supports acquisition of grants for State and Federal funding.
Develops and maintains professional working relationships with staff, students, administrators, school board members, and the public to promote the academic programs of the school district.
Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.
Assists in coordination of Financial and Human Resources data processing and administrative technology.
Keeps administration abreast of new financial/HR hardware and software and recommends changes as needed to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Uses and is proficient in various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases, and statistical packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

REPORTS TO:  Chief Financial and Operations Officer.

Literacy Coach – Teacher on Special Assignment

Job Description:
Full-time (1.0 FTE) Elementary Literacy Coach.  A literacy coach builds the capacity of Tier 1 (core) classroom teachers to close the literacy achievement gap by supporting teachers’ capacity to implement best practice instruction, increasing student engagement and improving student academic achievement.  This support will take place through:Professional Development – The coach works one-on-one and in small groups with teachers, providing guidance, training, and other resources as needed on a daily or weekly basis for the implementation for grade level, content area, or program development supported by evidence-based practices.
Literacy Instructional Leadership – A Striving Reading Comprehensive Literacy (SRCL) Coach supports the classroom teacher, support staff, and building principal in addressing literacy academic issues teachers face daily in their classrooms.  The coach may model lessons, participate in PLC conversations, or help teachers create lesson plans designed to ensure all learners, especially marginalized students in core instruction, meet or exceed grade level expectations.
Collaboration – The SRCL instructional coach teams with administrators, other coaches, and classroom teachers in a collaborative, reflective relationship to enhance literacy instructional capacity and maximize student learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive instructional coaching in literacy evidence-based practices consistent with local literacy plan and Striving Reading Comprehensive Literacy Grant requirements
Collaborate with all designated SRCL teachers by providing regular coach feedback on literacy instructional practices, implementation of plan requirements, alignment of practices to the Academic Standards, data analysis, differentiation for students below and above grade level, and other related practices
Service as a resource for identifying support for teachers, especially with regard to differentiating professional learning needs
Know and use current evidence-based practices with a proven track record of success
Advocate for equity by collaborating with district coaches and addressing literacy evidence-based practices that help teachers meet the needs of all learners, especially marginalized students
Communicate regularly with building principals and district administrators to address implementation issues develop common understanding of outcomes, support teachers, identify challenges, and celebrate successes
