Line/Staff Relationship:
Immediate supervisor: Head of School or SPED Coordinator. Works closely with SPED Coordinator, SPED Director, Teachers, Educational Partners, service providers, classroom teachers and other support staff.
Position Purpose:
To provide an enriching academic and learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests and learning styles of ACC students. To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, and other team members in providing educational and behavior support for students. Work with directors, educational team, other staff and parents to ensure ACC’s mission, values, vision, and curriculum objectives are supported, modeled and taught to the students.
Work Hours: 7:15 – 3:15pm* Monday thru Friday; however participation may be requested at staff meetings, home visits, parent-teacher conferences, Back to School Night, Literacy Night,
Math & Science Night and the Annual Board of Directors meeting.

Duties and Delegated Responsibilities:
Work with individual students/groups of students in their target area of learning needs/or social skills development
Utilize specialized approaches for delivering understandable curriculum to second language learners
Assist the Special Education teacher to document work related to SPED – possibly translating documents to Spanish, being in contact with parents to communicate daily activities
If possible, serve as an interpreter in the Special Education meetings as needed
Assist the special education teacher/learning specialist in evaluation testing
If possible, assist in translating progress report with the Special Education teacher to report where students are currently with their goals and objectives set by the IEP
Keep a log of access when contacting parents and/or scheduling meetings
Work with the classroom teacher to incorporate social skills instruction to assist students in establishing and maintaining positive behaviors
Conduct home visits with classroom teachers where possible/as needed and help to maintain communication with Spanish speaking families or guardians if possible/bilingual
Participate actively in monthly staff meetings
Commit to on-going professional development
Work closely with the general education teacher to ensure students are completing
assignments in a timely manner
Have some flexibility to work occasional evening hours for home visits, support parent-teacher conferences, etc.
Clerical duties such as filing, copying, organizing, creating and/or tracking purchase orders
Other duties as assigned by Head of School or the Special Education Coordinator
