Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 2 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has two (2) Setting IV Behavior Programs that provide programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. The Setting IV Behavior Programs are located in Kellogg (SAIL) and Hokah (ACHIEVE). In addition, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SPECTRUM). Our SPECTRUM program is located in Caledonia. HVED offers an Alternative Learning Center housed in MN College SE located in Winona, MN. Position Overview:   
HVED is seeking two professional, self-motivated Behavior Specialists to join the Mental Health Practitioner/Behavior Specialist team. These positions are trained and competent in designing and implementing positive behavioral interventions and support to member district teachers and/or HVED’s Level IV Behavior and Autism program(s). These positions will serve HVED member districts. District assignments are based on a combination of geographic location, student caseloads and district needs, as well as team and employee preferences.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Provide classroom and behavioral supports for students through analyzing data to identify inappropriate behaviors, planning, implementing and tracking individual behavioral plans.
Identify barriers to successful transition and facilitate transition plans.
Assist IEP teams in problem-solving and creating plans to manage behaviors that affect a student’s learning.
Become a certified CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Trainer and facilitate CPI initial and refresher courses for HVED employees and member district employees.
Provide a comprehensive approach to behavior management that includes evaluation, data collection, interventions and regular monitoring to produce socially significant improvement in children’s behavior.

Travel Requirements:

Travel among the HVED programs, member districts and HVED District Office required.

Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.

 

Cleaner, Part-Time (Multiple Positions)

The hours for this position are typically 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (4 hours per day); student-contact days only.

Job Summary
This position cleans and maintains designated areas of building to ensure a clean, pleasant and safe environment for employees, students, and the general public.

Job Functions

Vacuum, mop and sweep designated areas of building.
Collect and remove all trash, shredding and recycling in assigned areas.
Clean restrooms and locker rooms as assigned.
Clean windows, doors and mirrors in entry ways and other areas as assigned.
Clean carpets, stairways and floors as assigned.
Dust furniture and equipment.
Clean and disinfect cafeteria tables, counter tops and conference room tables
Report any issues with equipment or materials to supervisor.
Lock up building or designated area as require.
Move furniture, set up for events as needed.
Follow district cleaning procedures and standard safety procedures, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Substitute for building engineer as needed.
Other duties as assigned

Director of Communications

A full-time assignment as Director of Communications is available with Mankato Area Public Schools beginning November 30, 2020.  This is a 12-month, non-affiliated position.

This position will provide leadership and direction for all internal & external district-wide communication consistent with a plan that supports and aligns with the district’s strategic plan. Enhance the school district’s image and engage the community to build public support for the school district. Effectively communicate about Mankato Area Public Schools so that staff, parents, and community are well-informed. (see attached job description)

QualificationsHolds a bachelor’s degree and has extensive experience with coursework in Education or Education Administration.  Master’s degree or equivalent educational/technology experience preferred.
Has at least five years of experience in a related field.
Has demonstrated evidence of educational and/or technology leadership.
Has demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community.

Salary:  Based on CEA Master Agreement

Duties:  Support the work of the students and Head Coach in Knowledge Bowl competition, practice (virtual as needed), chaperoning, etc.
Qualifications:  Experience coaching competitive high school academic teams preferred
Good communication skills
Respect/recognition of youth needs
Promote program and recruit team members
Schedule and conduct practices
Keep records (registration, attendance, schedules, etc.)
Monitor student academic progress and eligibility according to MNSHL rules
Train teams
Attend tournaments.
Supervise students and act as a tournament official as needed
Assist in hosting tournaments
Work at the direction of the head coach

Background check will be conducted.
