POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assist classroom teachers in carrying out all responsibilities associated with elementary immersion teaching assignment.
* Assist classroom teachers in conducting classroom instruction of all basic subjects in Spanish.
* Work with small groups or individual students in math and/or reading
* Assist teacher as needed
* Collaborate with grade-level team members, program specialists, program coordinator, director, and other staff regarding program implementation.
* Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, procedures, and evaluation processes in immersion programs.
* Participate in in-service program planning and staff development activities.
* Participate in immersion and the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Programme training programs.
* General supervision during recess, lunch, arrival and dismissal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* The candidate, following guidelines for highly qualified staff, will hold at a minimum, an associate’s degree.  (Two year degree)
* Native or near native proficiency in the Spanish language is needed.
* Functional proficiency in English is required.

* Enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the full immersion teaching philosophy.
* Enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Programme.
* Excellent proven communication skills (non-verbal, oral, written, and listening.)
* Good organizational skills and flexibility in relating to students, parents, peers, and supervisors.
* Must be able to work well in a team environment through cooperation and participation.
* In-depth knowledge of a Hispanic culture.
* Ability to appropriately teach children with different ability levels and learning styles.
* Ability to understand that students are individuals, and the skill to work effectively with individual strengths and needs of students.
* Knowledge and ability to creatively instill the love of learning in students.
* Creatively strive to make connections with parents, other classes, community and beyond.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to appropriately and patiently work well with pre-k children in and outside of the classroom.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires the incumbent to work mainly in a classroom setting as well as supervise recess.  However, incumbent may be required to attend field trips outside of the school.  Incumbent also be required to supervise and work with the children in the lunchroom or other areas.
This position also requires other duties and responsibilities as needed that may not be included in this job description.
This position follows the school calendar and attendance is required only when students are present at school.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out all responsibilities associated with immersion teaching assignment.
Conduct classroom instruction of all basic subjects in Spanish.
Interweave Hispanic cultures into student activities throughout the school year.
Create plans for daily activities in line with the school curriculum
Engage with young children in activities that are age-appropriate and have educational merit
Foster a positive and healthy learning environment
Ensure the classroom is kept in a clean and safe condition at all times
Read stories to the children as a group activity
Encourage creative thinking and learning
Interact with other teachers and administrative staff as needed
Communicate with parents regarding child development and progress
Infuse global-mindedness into the curriculum on a continual basis.
Develop multi-cultural curriculum materials and instructional strategies for students as a part of a grade-level team.
Communicate closely and encourage parental involvement regarding program goals, classroom activities, homework and school functions.
Create a safe classroom environment.
Collaborate with grade-level team members, program specialists, program coordinator, director and other staff regarding program implementation.
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, procedures and evaluation processes in immersion programs.
Participate in regular program planning and staff development activities.
Participate in all training programs required for immersion, the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Programme and Responsive Classroom.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A valid Minnesota early learning teaching license is required.  The candidate must have native or near native proficiency in the Spanish and English languages.  A minimum of one year of pre-k school experience is preferred.  A minimum of six months of living in a Spanish speaking country is preferred.

Prior immersion classroom teaching experience is preferred.  Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Programme is also preferred.

Pre-K Director

We are actively seeking a qualified Pre-K Director who will oversee the daily operations and administration of the ISLA Pre-K program.  The candidate will be experienced in the field of Early Childhood Development and Lead Management of the program.  The Pre-K Director’s responsibilities include the recruitment of staff, recruitment of students, marketing and communication, financial management, and communication with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal communication and communication skills as well as a love for children.  You should uphold the mission and vision of the International Spanish Language Academy with pride, and ensure that the program meets the relevant standards set by the state.  Ultimately, a top-notch Pre-K Director will determine the needs of the program, protect the health and safety of children, work closely with the ISLA Executive Director, and closely follow the strategic plan as laid out by the ISLA Board of Directors.

Pre-K Director Responsibilities:

●     Oversee the daily operation of the program
●     Manage faculty
●     Manage creation & implementation of marketing plan
●     Identify and schedule fundraising events
●     Create policies and develop curricula which conform to state guidelines
●     Ensure the classrooms are well maintained
●     Manage financial transactions and prepare budgets
●     Attain yearly enrollment goals
●     Maintain the school website and social media
●     Schedule training of CPR and First Aid for all members of staff
●     Create open and ongoing communication opportunities with current and prospective families
●     Schedule ongoing professional development for staff
●     Teach/Co-teach, and substitute for teaching absences in the early years program
●     Oversee the Pre-K nutrition program
