The Desktop Support position with Mahtomedi Schools provides general support for users of the school district’s systems by responding to work orders, installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, resolving, repairing, and maintaining computer systems and other technology-related items while on-site, through remote access or via telephone.
This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to resolve immediate problems for staff.  The position will work with staff across all buildings within the District, either in person or via phone and/or email.   This position requires self-motivation to complete daily work tasks under limited supervision and the ability to follow through with customers once issues are resolved.
The position will work with the District’s technology department for training and mentorship.

The position is on a part-time basis: Monday through Friday, 4 hours per day

Redwood Area School District #2987 (Based in Redwood Falls, Minnesota)

District Description

Redwood Area School District is a progressive school district located in Redwood Falls, a community of approximately 5,000 people in southwestern Minnesota. We serve approximately 1,100 students in grades K-12 from the communities of Redwood Falls, Morton, Belview, and the surrounding area. In addition, we also provide Early Childhood Family Education classes, Cardinal Kids Club childcare for 3 and 4-year olds, School Age Child Care, Early Childhood Special Education and an Alternative Learning High School Program.

Redwood Area Schools embrace ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. Approximately 25% of our enrollment is comprised of American Indian students and our relationship with the Lower Sioux Community and Tribal Council is strong. Approximately 45% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Our school sites include Reede Gray Elementary, which serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4. At the same location is the Ehlers Early Childhood Center that houses Early Childhood Family Education, preschool, childcare and Head Start. Redwood Valley Middle School/High School serves students in Grades 5-8 in the Middle School and Grades 9-12 in the High School.

Special features of the Middle School/High School campus include the Estebo Performing Arts Center, 2400 seat gymnasium, Redwood Area Community Center (includes indoor running track, field house, state of the art fitness center, conference center and ice arena). The outdoor athletic complex includes softball fields, state of the art track and field complex, tennis courts, golf practice range, athletic practice fields and outdoor environmental learning center.

The school board recently added the “Estebo Career and Technical Training Center” to the high school facility. This facility is “state of the art” and designed to educate our students and adults in the areas of health care, construction trades, robotics, agriculture and manufacturing. Significant relationships are emerging to fully utilize this facility.

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Develop, direct and implement communications and community relations strategies for South Washington County School District ensuring that all district communication, marketing and community relations are cohesive, consistent and effective in supporting the district’s mission and strategic plan.  Serve as the internal coordinator of the District’s annual strategic planning process.

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Create and execute a comprehensive, strategic and integrated internal and external communication and community relations plan to positively engage the community.
Serve as a primary resource for crisis management communications processes, including planning and directing crisis communication plans and responses that support the District’s mission and values and state and federal guidelines.
Assist Superintendent with communication and coordination of major district initiatives.
Assist Superintendent in interpreting, implementing and reporting School Board actions by serving on leadership team, attending School Board meetings and providing community relations consultation to decision-makers.
Coordinate, organize and support the work of district leaders and action planning team efforts to ensure annual review of the District’s Strategic Plan is conducted, while promoting ongoing efforts of the district’s strategic objectives, values and overall mission.
Supervise and manage the Communication Department, which includes preparing and monitoring budgets, supervising and evaluating staff, developing and implementing department goals and objectives, and programming for district’s educational cable access channel.
Serve as the on camera key spokesperson for the district with the media and media outlets. Provide support to district leaders in issues involving media relations.
Develop and implement community relations activities, services, and marketing efforts, that will enhance the school district’s image in the community.
Manage and respond to requests for data under the Government Data Practices Act and other state and federal laws.
Support district-wide community engagement efforts and serve as a community liaison through local organizations.
Serve as a legislative liaison through the efforts of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts and District 833 School Communicators.
Provide leadership for employee recognition and community outreach activities.
Manage production of all major school district publications.
Other duties as assigned.
