Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  Our mission is to provide a high-quality education integrating the Christian faith and learning.

The Upper School has a Part-Time (20-40%) Spanish teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year.  This position would start on Monday, August 12th.  The class(es) will meet on three days during a typical week, most likely on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  This person will teach one section of Spanish 1, with the potential for two depending on summer registration. In August we will be moving into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility back on our old campus at 3100 West River Parkway, in Minneapolis.  Come and join us for this exciting time in our school’s history!

B-Shift Custodian

The Director of Buildings and Grounds, Chief Building Engineer, Building Principal or Head Custodian as situationally appropriate.

POSITION GOAL:
To provide for the safe operation and completion of assigned duties to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for students, teachers, other staff personnel and community.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Assist in maintaining order and discipline while providing a safe and secure the environment at all times.
B. Perform as the lead person to successfully accomplish the job responsibilities associated with custodial support to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
C. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Building Principal or Head Custodian.

V. JUDGMENT REQUIRED:
A. Ability to recognize and react appropriately to potentially dangerous or harmful situations.
B. Ability to recognize and correct safety violations.
C. Ability to operate independently and effectively while following established procedures and protocols.
D. Ability to anticipate and/or recognize problems and/or complications and to determine and implement practical corrective solutions to problems and issues.
E. Ability to communicate appropriately with individuals regardless of socioeconomic status or intellectual capacity.
F. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills when completing unique or complex job assignments. Ability to determine what is confidential and proprietary information and how to use that information in a proper manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
A. Perform under various environmental conditions including, but not limited to, changes in weather patterns and temperatures.
B. Perform with moderate noise levels and in environments with multiple levels of action taking place.

CUSTODIAL SUPPORT TO THE DIRECTOR OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
1. Basic understanding of State and Local codes.
2. Perform assigned duties such as sweeping, dusting, washing walls, washing furniture, scrubbing floors, vacuuming floors, cleaning chalkboards, checking and servicing fire extinguishers, maintenance of sanitary equipment, desks, chairs, tables, faucets, sinks, lockers, and other equipment used in the schools to the district standard. Responsible for pulling or extending bleachers for spectator use and setting up the gym.
3. Perform snow shoveling, debris pick up, grass mowing, shrubbery cultivation, repair and maintenance of playground and athletic field equipment, lavatory cleaning duties, and other maintenance and repair duties of outdoor equipment and property.
4. Perform cleaning and maintenance duties of equipment assigned such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, water removal equipment, dust mops, brooms, repair and replace broken windows, and other similar equipment.
5. Assist in remodeling and renovation work.
6. Ability to operate all mechanical equipment in the building including boilers, steam traps, pneumatic controls and related equipment, ballasts, and related electrical work, water softeners, and fire alarm systems.
7. Responsible for the general security of the building and/or ground.
8. Responsible for and adherence to standard safety procedures.
9. Understanding of chemical dilution rates.
10. Record-keeping including time off work, scheduled maintenance, etc.
11. Ability to multi-task in an organized, timely manner.
12. Participate in “Right To Know” and annual health and safety training.
13. Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Buildings and Ground, Building Principal and/or the Superintendent of Schools.

SPECIAL EDUCATION SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES (SLD) TEACHER / ACADEMIC BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST
