Hours:  32-36 hours per week

Job Summary:
Provide coordination for all on-site aspects of summer camp to ensure the delivery of hIgh quality camp experiences.   Maintain safety and security of campers and facilities. Work with instructors/vendors, coaches and group leaders with community education activities

Essential job functions include the following:
Coordinate the day-to-day Activities and operation of camp programs:Supervise and work actively with Camp staff, instructors and vendors to ensure high quality program is delivered to participants.
Communicate with Parents/Guardians regarding all aspect of summer programing
Supervise & Facilitate camper movement throughout the day including drop-off and pick-up hours as well as lunch bunch.
Ensure facilities/classrooms are set-up and ready for the camp days activities
Perform daily administrative task such as answering phones/emails, organizing paperwork, ordering supplies, scheduling, completing reports, and executing evaluations
Organize, supervise and attend Friday Field Trips with students and Camp staff

Maintain Safety And Security Of campers and Facilities ByUnlock and controlling access to spaces as needed and authorized by permit.
Secures building at the end of camp this includes ensuring that all facility users have left the premise, turning off lights, checking and locking appropriate doors and notifying custodians of departure before leaving the building.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety and emergency procedures for the building of assignment.
Responding appropriately to emergencies and/or injuries; calling 911 if necessary.
Responsible for minor Blood Borne cleanups.
Promptly completing and submitting required reports (accident/injury reports, facilities report, Incident  report) to Community Education.
Remaining alert to potentially unsafe situations and notifying custodian of unsafe conditions; stopping any unsafe or questionable activities.
Observes activities in and around the camp to help prevent property damage and theft. Reports illegal activities to the police and Community Education facilities office.
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:Attending and participating in staff meetings and in-service training programs as requested
Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Valid MN teaching license in communication arts/literature for grades 6-8.
Must demonstrate continued professional development through coursework, research and peer collaboration.
Considerable knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
Considerable knowledge of students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
Considerable knowledge of classroom management techniques.
Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
Considerable skill in classroom presentation.

Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Considerable ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
Considerable ability to provide appropriate instruction in core subjects.
Considerable ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
Considerable ability to interact effectively with students, parents, other school staff, administration and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Considerable ability to evaluate student performance and to present these evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement.
Considerable ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas(s) for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.
Implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed.
Follow the prescribed course of study, except as authorized in the curriculum outlines or by the principals or other official rules and regulations.
Evaluate student performance according to system used by school and/or District; promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the superintendent.
Maintain contact and communications with parents of students and work with them in the development of each student.
Perform classroom management duties; enforce District rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students who do not follow District rules.
Enforce District guidelines in regard to health and hygienic conditions and practices in the classroom as they may affect the physical and mental health of students.
