Associate Director of Special Education

The Green Bay Area Public School District is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Special Education vacancy. Working collaboratively with other leaders, under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Services, the Associate Director of Special Education provides oversight of special education programming, staffing, procedural compliance, and results driven accountability. The Special Education leadership team focuses on increasing academic achievement for all students with disabilities within the Green Bay Area Public School District to ensure college, career and community readiness for all. Essential functions of this Associate Director of Special Education position include, but are not limited to: – supporting building administrators in their supervision and evaluation of staff to ensure effective instructional practice that leads to high levels of student achievement; – providing long-range planning and timelines for implementing special education services district wide, aimed at closing the achievement gap; – providing for special education curriculum and program planning, development, implementation and objective evaluation; – determining staffing requirements and continuously monitoring staffing needs for special education programs; – recruiting, screening and interviewing for special education vacancies; – planning, organizing and conducting monthly and/or quarterly department and leadership meetings; – resolving and managing conflict on student educational programs, including responding to parent concerns; – attending IEP team meetings, as needed; – facilitating manifestation determination meetings; – assisting in oversight of DPI Indicators; and, – following up of any Correction Actions. The successful candidate for this position will remain current in their practice by maintaining their expertise in special education through college coursework, in-services, reviewing literature, community involvement and technology training.
